superstitions and a (still alive) critical mind
Current mood: cynical
I was just looking for something cute for my friend on YouTube, as he's been working very hard these days and I'd like to at least help him relax and have fun a little more. I was about to watch this (hopefully cute) video, and as it was loading I decided to read the users' comments as I often do. I encountered one that read:
"PLEASE DON'T READ THIS. You will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't post this comment to at least 3 videos, you will die within 2 days. Copy and paste this, to be saved"
Now, I believe this is all crap, just superstitious spam posted by irrational or bored people. I mean, come on, what could be a likely connection between my posting a dumb comment to three videos and being kissed by my loved one or dying?
But then again, just for the fun of it, I'm doing this, because it's far more interesting than my history lessons. What is "this"? Perhaps you could call it an experiment.
I have not reposted this as a comment to three videos. I have, however, copied and pasted it into my blog for anyone and everyone to see.
So, what's it going to be? Let's see what might happen if this kind of thing were accurate.
The first and most pleasant hypothesis would be that this counts as reposting, since it is on another site and more than three people might see it, the one whom I currently consider the love of my life will kiss me tomorrow. It'd be nice, though he lives kinda far and has painfully negative feelings about physically visiting me right now.
The second possibility would be that this copy-and-paste counts, but an ex-love or someone other than the man I'm in love witrh will kiss me tomorrow, as I am still young and perhaps the one I am so crazy about now isn't "the love of my life", even though I consider him so. I just hope it won't be sexual harassment, though, since I won't let just anyone who wants to kiss me do it... I am quite private at that, in fact.
The third, last, and least nice hypothesis is that... copying the comment in my MySpace blog doesn't count, so I will be dead in 48 hours. One can never know, I guess, though given my age and health status I wouldn't consider that likely to happen.
Now, let us see what happens. Of course, even if one of these things does happen... it could be a coincidence. But let us see if there is even a coincidence.
Update Friday, May 4, 2007 - The current "love of my life" has not even given me an online kiss. There are a few more hours of today left, though, and an infinity of possibilities. I am still alive. A slight coincidence is that, having talked to Sean about a lot of things for almost 3 hours, I'm happy. This is a good day, one of the best... I've also had tasty chocolate and fruit for lunch, my dad got me the Q-tips I needed, etc. etc. etc. But I wouldn't say this is the one best day of my life, because I didn't have the privacy I needed earlier due to the workers and my grandma, so I couldn't enjoy myself properly, take a shower, etc. My mom is bugging me. My grandma was nagging me. So... a very slight, likely coincidence.
(Hope to) see y'all tomorrow! (and thank you everyone for your kind comments wishing me to survive these two days... not! How caring
)Update Sunday, May 6, 2007 - Yay! I made it! I survived! Though I was expecting this... And, you guessed it, no kiss from my love, not even on the cheek. Slight coincidence - yesterday I did feel so sore and sick I was good for nothing. But you can't get rid of me that easily

Conclusion - spam comments are not to be trusted, sent to naive people, or reposted. Thank you very much.
