I normally wouldn't speak up here but since I happened to place in the top spot in this round and there is some question as to the validity of my entry due to the fact that it wasn't a true collaborative effort between myself and B Chandler, I feel I must say something.

I was recently in a car crash and because of that I have a shattered leg and twisted vertabrae in my lower back. This has made it extremely difficult to sit for any length of time and therefore, I am not on AP as much as I was before. Ryan graciously allowed me to complete a separate piece so I could write it completely away from the computer.

Perhaps he should have made it clear to everyone what was going on so you would understand but in any case, that is the only reason I wrote my own piece.

I'm sorry if some of you feel I don't deserve to be here. I've worked hard on the pieces that I have entered and its given me somethng to focus on rather than the pain of healing.

I'm not using this as an excuse. I'm just stating the facts. I already have the "one strike" against me and if I miss a deadline I'm out - simple as that. But I just wanted you all to understand what had happened.

I have told Ryan that I will not accept any more dispensations because of my current situation and I apologize to those of you who feel I shouldn't have had one to begin with.

I just want to write and to stretch myself artistically and these challenges give me the outlet to do so.

    Sincerely,
    ~Elora~

      Hi Elora,

Your entry in this round of the contest was beautiful, and more than deserving of the top placing. There is not a poet here that I don't feel deserves to be here; you all do, have all worked hard to get to this round.

I was fully in support of the "one strike" rule Ryan implemented, as I believe I commented on in a previous board. Life...happens. There will always be events we can't control, and this is the first multi-round contest I've seen that took that into consideration. I respect and admire that a LOT. It would have been nice though, if the rest of us had been better informed of the special circumstances, especially this round with your and B Chandler's writes being separate. Another team also appeared to start out with separate writes, although they were ultimately combined at the end.

I apologize if you felt singled out or criticized in any way by my earlier comment; it was not meant to be a personal attack on any of the contestants OR judges. I had simply wanted to voice my concerns about the technical aspects of the contest.

No stranger to physical pain myself, I know how helpful it is to have things that take your mind off pain, and writing can be a great catharsis . I wish you a speedy recovery and continued success in the contest.

      Best wishes,
      ~J.

    Ryan,

I don't know... I just read poetryality's and trista's poem, and I feel like I underrated them. I think I may have made a mistake. I am not sure.

I wish to leave judging... I just can't take this. It's hard to... take all of this BS that contestant throw at us. I don't know how you and Bunny can take it and go along with it, but I can't.

    It hurts when people.afhwailuofu whatever..

Anyway, good luck to you with the rest of the contest.

    As for judging-

for the bottom group of contestants, judge how they did overall- not how they did that round.

    you'll figure it out.

    I'm just stressed/mad/hurt/depressed(again)

    Good luck with it though..

Thanks Judges! Congrats to those moving on. A huge thank you to the very lovely maa for her amazing words in our collaboration. Marion, you are truly a joy to work with and I hope to have the chance to collaborate with you again in the future. I'm so sorry to hear that you are choosing to withdraw from the competition. I must say, I am positively shocked to see J and Renee eliminated. Personally ladies, I think your work showed deeply profound emotion. I am truly sorry to see you both leave.

    Congratulation to All

I can't say I'm not disappointed to be leaving the competition, but in something like this we are only as good as our current write. I was honored to work with poetryality on this collaboration; she is a very talented poet and was a joy to work with. With her having real-life experience on the subject, I felt really added to the perspective we took in our poem.

Ryan, I do have to say I am very disappointed that we didn't get a detailed critique from you, especially compared to at least one other that you pointed out problem areas with. This does not tell me what needed improving:

"This is so enchanting, powerful and beautiful. You are defiantly standing out. Just the way you chose to write this, and worked together, it is almost like one person wrote it. Awesome. Awesome. Great work. Thanks for your continued entries.
    ~Ryan~ "

I also can't fully agree with the way some of the poems this round were not truly collaborations, with people basically writing their own, separate poems. If this was an issue that some could not write together for whatever reason, I feel this should have been an individual challenge. As is, I really feel terrible that my writing may have taken out a poet who, I feel, truly deserves to be in this contest yet.

I Congratulate all those moving on to the next round; you are all truly wonderful in your own ways. I will be watching and reading with interest, and cheering my favorites on.

    My love to all,
    ~J.

Trista you did a good job. I think I made a mistake with judging, so you can blame your elimination on me.
I quit judging, so.. yeah. This contest won't have that problem again.

      dear ryan, bunny and tyler,

in complicity with two of the most gifted poets here on ap, julie (trista) and renee (poetryality), who will no longer be a part of this challenge, which I deeply regret, I wish to leave the competition as well ...
thank you so much for this wonderful adventure and all the loving care you have invested in this endeavour ...

many blessings to all of you,

My congratulations to those who are moving on.

trista and me worked well together. She is a brilliant poet, and a charming woman. It has been my pleasure to be a contestant in this challenge. I adore all of you, thank you for your support.

I must say that I was a pregnant teen, that married at 18, and have been married for 34 years yesterday. I think that oft times when speaking to an issue such as "teen pregnancy"; metaphors, similes, abstraction, and other poetic devices are unnecessary. I'll say as my grandmother said to me when I told her I was pregnant long before I told my parents; "you are not the first and won't be the last". Cliché, yes but all too true.

Love You All, and the best to you in future rounds. ♥

      Renee,
As I told Trista, I made a mistake with the judging. I underrated you two tremendously, and it is embarassing..
I am sorry about this. It won't ever happen again.

Hey, Thank you soo much for second. I think I speak for both mayflowerbg & myself when I say thank you for second place! Also, it's sad to have to see poetryality and Trista go. I think that everyone deserves to stay in this contest but then it'd never finish. Great work you guys and keep your heads held high!

    Amazing

    Hi Judges

I have followed with intrest the writings in this contest
Several of my friends are writing here and I read their work often
The order is astounding especially the Chandler writes, which I become very lost in all thru the contest.
It is like toooo much Ana,Mona,Pia, bla bla bla
Almost a collection of ornate words in random order

To me, poetry in its self, requires that we are with the author in their thoughts, not left behind
wondering what was said in this elaborate ponderance.

    Just my thoughts
I always think to my self
would I pay to read these words

Not if only two people in the world understood me
Almost an attempt at being perfound, just too much

Forgive me, I seldom say a harsh word
    I was just shocked
There were many verses that greatly exceeded this

    Rick
