Challenge Yourself .....Vets vs Rookies Eliminations Round One

Well here we are at the end of the first round.

I know you are all anxious to know the results of this round,

but before we get to that I have a few things I want to say.

First I want to commend you all on a job well done!

It was a pleasure to read such a vast variety of talent

in the same competition. Talk about diversity, this challenge

certainly does have that and that is exactly what I was after

and it is exactly what I received.

Now in this round there seemed to be that some of you may

have misunderstood/misinterpreted the challenge, however

I was still impressed by the results of this round. I have learned

and few things about your talent, writing styles and even about you

yourselves....which was the point of this round.

However, I want to say, and I cannot stress this enough,

if at any point you are not certain you understand the

challenge set forth before you please DO NOT

hesitate to ask questions. I would rather you ask a ton

of questions then go on without the clarity of the assignment.

In this round many of you showed yourselves within your assigned

creatures, or rather your creature in you! Some did so in a subtle manner

where as others were more straight forth coming; while at the same time

others failed to show the direct relation to self. Nonetheless the creativity

was not lack in this round in the least.

I was greatly impressed with the results of many and a bit disappointed

in others, but that is neither here nor there. This is a competition and

thus that is to be expected. Regardless of how it may sound to say

that this was a tough round to judge, know that it truly was. I had to bring

in assistance to from a friend as you could tell by receiving both a scored

comment as well as a comment from myself. It is with that score you seen and

my own that the results are as they are.

Also before I give the names of those eliminated I would let you all know which team

scored the best this round.

The team with a total score of 1007 is

the Vets!

The Vets have taken the win of round 1 by a mere 13.5 points.

Careful, now Vets, don't get overly excited I think the Rookies

might have a little something to say about your win and take

 over in the seoncd round.

Now on to the eliminations........

I must say that as much as I love hosting these challenge I do dread

the eliminations as I hate to see anyone go, but alas that is part of

the challenge is it not? So without further ado I shall reveal the 2 poets

that we must bid farewell to this round.

The first poet we must part from is

Norman Crabtree

Now as for the second poet to leave us, well this is tough.

The second lowest score was a 3 way tie. I have been battling

all night and most of the day trying to decide which to eliminate

and which not to. I have read and reread each one of their entries

numerous times, picking them apart to see if I perhaps overlooked

different aspects and such previously.

This was not an easy decision for me at all as I enjoy the work

of all three poets but at the same time I've to make a decision

and thus once again went to a third party for their personal opinion

the entries in question and it was with their assistance that this decision

was made.

The second poet to which we must bid farewell to this round is

DK and Nirman it has been a pleasure to have you both in this challenge.

Know you have both done a wonderful job with your entries. I believe you

both to be very talented poets and it saddens me to have to say good bye

so soon. I wish you well in all your future writes and challenges. Perhaps

I will see you again in my next challenge.

As for those of you that are still with me and moving on to the

next round I have 4 passes to hand out.

2 Immunity and 2 Creativity

Last night I did contact 3 of the 4 poets to notify them of their

awarded passes. I will contact the forth here shortly.

Remember the rules for the passes that have been awarded.

They can be found on the columns I have posted in connection

with this challenge. Congrats on earning them and remember

to use them wisely!

I will see you all in Round two!

Congratulations to the Vets. I read most of the entries, and I am extremely glad that I was not on the judging side of this.

i can't really complain, i didnt relate the hydra to myself, instead i tried to create another metaphor in life and society. Silly Me. Ah well this was my first contest like this, so im glad ive being put off them now rather than later.

aaaacchhh, that is definitely a hard elimination for me. norman has grown to me a great friend on this site towards me, and i can at least say that i am very pleased to have met him through this. it does hurt though to see him gone.

the same may be said for di. she's truly a lovely woman. i will miss the both of you.

congratulations to those who have advanced.
