Running The Show

Vets vs Rookies

This column is to make you all aware of the scoring grid in which

will be used to score each entry throughout this challenge. It is

also, to make a few other points known that I feel are

 pertinent to mention.

First I will begin by introducing the members for

both teams in this challenge.

First, let us welcome back the contenders

of the Vet Team:

Blazing White Wolf

MuddyKing

B Chandler

lavender shadows

leander

luckynsincere

Ktulu Blackwolfe

Sonja

masterblaster

Poetryality

Desire

Now, let me introduce you to your opponents,

the members of the Rookie Team:

transatlanticism

JM Kenyon

Whispered Melissa

DK aka LunaticSerene

Norman Crabtree

Just Rob

speakingup4kids

onyxsoul

kaibab

penman

Cherokee

Now with members of both teams out in the open

and made known I will continue with

other pertinent information.

First and foremost, and I cannot stress this enough!

I will not tolerate any attitudes, egos, whining/whiners and/or sore

losers. Drop any and all of it at the door. If you cannot drop it

at the door it's not a problem you can leave now. I am not

trying to be harsh but at the same time I will not tolerate

anything that will be a potential problem. Just as

everyone has earned their seat in this challenge

keep in mind that does not mean I will not

strip you of your seat if any problems occur

from the above mentioned. I have a list

of back up poet that too have applied

for a seat and I know they would

be more than happy take one

if one were to become

available.

I did state in a previous column a sense of humor was essential and

I meant that. As you have seen from the group IMs recently we all

like to joke and have a few laughs. It helps to keep things

light-hearted and laid back, which I have come to find

allows the creative juices to flow more freely. Yes, this

is a serious challenge but it need not be taken so

seriously that we cannot have some fun

along the way.

With that said we move to the scoring grid.

You will each start with a base score of 100 and from there

I will deduct points according to the grid just below.

1 – 5 pts for title originality

1 – 25 pts for overall creativity

1 – 20 pts use of poetic devices

1 – 10 pts for layout/presentation

1 – 10 pts for chosen form (includes free verse)

1 – 15 pts for handling of assignment/prompt

1 – 15 pts for grammar, punctuation, capitalization

Every round there will be at least two poets eliminated and this will

continue for nine rounds bringing us to round ten being the final

round with the final two poets. At the end of each round I

will read and score each entry based on the above grid.

Once the scores have all been tallied up the two

poets with the lowest scores will be

eliminated.

Shall we move on further?

-IMMUNITY-

Alright, now I have for this challenge 2 immunity passes. I will give

them out at the end of the first round. I will be giving one to a

poet on the Vet Team and one to a poet on the Rookie Team.

If you want it you will have to write your tail off and

seriously impress me. Only the most creative and

impressive piece (in my opinion) will have

earned the rights to these passes, so

don't disappoint me.

For those of you that do not know nor are you familiar with what an immunity pass it I shall inform you now. It is a free pass, a get

out of jail free card sort of speak. If the pass is presented to

you, you will be able to use it to save your skin should

you be one of the lowest scoring poets at the end of

any given round with the exception of the final

round of course!

Once the names of the bottom two poets have been revealed you will have

24 hrs in which to present the immunity pass if you wish to use it.

In order to use it you must IM me personally and state your

intention to do so and then I shall announce that the pass

has been used and proceed to post the next round. If you

have the pass but fail to IM me within 24hrs stating

your intent then the pass is null and void. You

will have 24 hrs ONLY to present me

with the pass and your intent.

You may also use the pass to save another poet that faces elimination. Again, the same rules apply here as stated above. Though think

carefully when considering this option. Once you use the pass

it is no more therefore you will not be able to save yourself

should you then face elimination.

Also note that this immunity pass cannot be used to save yourself

or another facing elimination due to failure to turn in an entry.

If you do not turn in an entry you will be eliminated.

-CREATIVITY-

For this challenge I am creating a new pass to add into the mix. Consider yourself a bit of a test group...LOL If this works well in this challenge I may decide to keep it active in future challenges.

This is called the creativity pass of which again there will be two, one for

one poet of each time. This pass will allow you, when you decide to

use it, add 10 points to your score for any chosen round with

the exception of the final round.

How this will work is as follows. Say for example you weak point to

tend to lack in creativity when it comes to a particular form or genre.

At the end of the round after you post your entry and ONLY

then can you decide to use it. What it will do is add 10

points to whatever your score is after I have it tallied.

You must state to me directly through IM that you

wish to use this pass for that round and you must

do so before the two poets for elimination are

announced! Now be careful and think hard

on using this pass. Using this pass to add

the bonus points DOES NOT guarantee

you that you will be safe from being one

of the poets eliminated. It will only

guarantee you an added 10

points to your score, so you

may very well still be

eliminated after

it's usage.

This pass CANNOT be used to assist another poet.

It is strictly for you by the poet to which it is

assigned and no one else.

-NOTE-

No one poet in this challenge will hold

more than one pass of any kind!

Be for warned, as we progress throughout this challenge I may at any given time decide to add new passes or changes, twists and such.

Be warned I have been known to give out very odd and unique challenges that require much creativity. I may even give out a silly challenge or

two just to see what kind of talent you got.

Keep in mind,

to win this challenge you will have to

step outside your box and impress me.

This challenge will begin mid to late next week!

As with the previous columns I ask that once you have read this column that you leave a note below so I know that you have read and acknowledge all that has been stated here.

With all that said.....

I welcome you all to the challenge of the Vets vs the Rookies!

No reason to be sorry hun. Glad you said something.
I will remember for future posts. I would keep it simple so you can read it clearly as not to miss anything. You shouldn't have to cut and paste into word
