Background Music

At long last, you can add background music to your author and item pages!

As mentioned earlier last week, becaues of copyright threats, we can't let you upload your own music We've included some free music that I think goes fairly well as background music.

Currently, this feature is for silver/gold members - it's always a great time to upgrade!. Read more about how to choose a song.

Coming soon: A way to upload a recording of you reciting your poem!
Most of the music is from the 'monotonic' project online. There is also a cd by 'Tryad' near the bottom, which has a slightly different sound.

We'll be adding additional msuic eventually. Unpopular selections may be removed, but older poems using them would be unaffected.

I know many of you were hoping to upload your own songs, and I'm sorry that we can't offer that at this time I did a lot of research into music services we could connect with online, but nothing currently was available that would work. I'll keep you posted if one appears!

Other updates around the site have been made, notably 'settings' has been renamed to 'account' and the links have been reformatted. When you rate comments, the user now gets a note as expected.

Thanks for your support, enjoy the new feature, and go forth and write poetry!

Great, yet another thing to distract the reader from the poem.

Kevin . . . this is all very good news!!! I myself have recorded a cd a few years back. It is voice accompanied by dulcimer, guitar and percussion as well as nature sounds and I would love to share it with the other poets on AP. Keep me posted, so that when the time comes we can work something out.

Hi Kevin, I am also a free member, not registering because I don't know what the costs would be from Namibia and I don't have a master card, so in the first place, how would I be able to pay. Can't you consider it for the freeb's as well. We contribute to this site as well by reading and commenting on other members poetry as well which in return they also appreciate.

One thing though... I am a little confused. When you say it is only available for gold & silver members do you mean that only they may add the music to their feautures but all who click on them will be able to hear it?

Excellent!! Although only a mere free memeber at the momment I look forward to experiencing this in other people's poems. I know on the column suggesting the idea there were many complaints but just to let you know there are also many of us who thinks it's a great idea!

I noticed that. It is a nice feature, though it doesn't seem to work for me. I'll keep trying Just wondering, if you say that soon we'll be able to upload recordings of us reciting poems, couldn't that feature be used for uploading us singing/playing them? That would be easier if possible. Just a thought. Maybe it's weird

    Great . .

I think this is great – but I am wondering that as there will only be a few that really suit the rhythm of most poems – and therefore could they be graded . . Sentimental, Upbeat, Sad, etc. . . Boom de de Boom Boom won’t suit everything . .

You have a very large range to go through and I ( and I suppose others ) am not familiar with the names. So perhaps they could be numbered ( 1 to 100 ) like a Chinese menu – so I can quickly pick say. . number 3 –

Anyway it is already brilliant – but haven’t found the right “elevator music” so far . . but that is just me I suppose – I will keep looking for some soft Pan Pipes attempting Clair de Loon. Real poetry in music form.

Conclusion - Well Done ! – you continue to be the best poetry site on the web – Hehe but the changes take some getting used to . . .

    Albert.
