Uploading Secondary Images and Posting them

Want to add a secondary image to your poem or author page? (For Gold memberships) Here is how to do it...

So you want to add a secondary image to your page?

Below are detailed instructions tellng you how to.

1.  The first thing you need to do will be to know where you have the image stored on your own pc ready for accessing it to be uploaded.

2. Next, click on your My Account' link (located at the very top of your page).

3. On the page which opens up, in the listing under 'Your Activity'  you will find

Your lists, contests, columns, backgrounds, images, guestbook, journals, or drafts

Click on the 'images' link.

This brings you to the page where all your 'secondary images' are listed.

4. To the right of the page is another link 'Add a new secondary image '

Click on this link and it will open a new page where it will allow you to upload the image.

5. Click on 'Browse'. A grey window will open up allowing you to search for the image you want from those stored on your PC.

Locate the image you want and click 'Open'

6. The location appears in the lower box titled 'image'

7. Now type in a title for your image, try to keep it concise, as you will need to use this when adding the image to your page.

8. Now click 'add image' this will then upload the image to the site and the new image once uploaded will appear in your list of secondary images.

9. You will notice that the entry on your list has the word  'image' first and the whole thing is enclosed in square brackets.

Take an exact note of the entry..... you will need to use this when you post the image onto your page or poem.

Now...... you want to add your secondary image to your page or poem.

1. Go the the page where you want to add the image and click on edit.

2. In the body of the text, locate the position you want the image to appear and click your cursor onto that spot.

3. Then type in the title of the image, exactly as it showed on your secondary image list.

4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the 'submit poem'

The image will automatically appear just where you wanted it on your page.

And that is it. You can do that with as many images as you wish just followng the same procedure for each image.

Thanks for this... although I was never able to type it in and have it show up, I did drag the image from the side and it worked that way.

    Thank you Ann

Thanks for this column. I have been struggling with this issue since I went back to being a gold member. I think I have been doing what you say to do. Is it possible the secondary image feature still does not work on a MAC? I use a Mac.....alas.....some things just don't work correctly.

Thanks and God bless! - joanne

Thank you so much for this Ann, I have been really struggling with second images whilst using the Gold free week. I also found that all my images had turned into tiles, the only ones that were ok were the side border ones and the plain ones... at lease now that has been sorted out, I only had the problem when the new format for the site changed. Still it takes time to get used to these new ideas. Katie

the square brackets on a keyboard are to the right of the "p" key, between the "p" key and enter, usually.

So THAT's what it's all about...

I ran into the secondary image thing, I even added one when I first tried to add a main pic, and I had no clue up to this point as to what a secondary image was...! It will take time for my old habits to change, anyway, as I to this day store my secondary images off-site and link to them with HTML... now I'm seeing a "Columns I've Found Useful" link for the first time... maybe I'll give it a try...

    Ponderings in the mirror

    Sunbathing before our dinner

The River Thames flows to the sea

That's where we really want to be

Bobbing about in the salty waves

Before we end up in our static graves...

Yes, I love using this new feature and definitely think it is one that will come in handy. I like that picture you used in the example.

But Ann... are you still using that pesky Internet Explorer? Hasn't Kevin taught you anything?!

Well done Ann - I smiled at the picture of the old couple I've used that at work. Very informative and useful. Straight to the point with no 'fluff'.
the images are a huge benefit when explaining the procedures.

Thank you, Ann, for your time and trouble in getting this information together. And thank you, too, for being succinct in your explanations. I wish more people on the site could do that.
Will get in touch soon. I think you sent me an IM sometime ago and I also don't remember actually replying to it. Many apologies. Will remedy that later, too. Joy

Thank you Ann for a very timely column.
It solved a problem I was having putting images into a piece on Kipling and al because I missed square brackets [].
It's a pity that the site doesn't come with handouts
    Bless You

Thanks for this Ann...truly. I'm not a computer-expert to any extent of the word, but even to read through your column and the page-examples you've included as to what things will look like when going through the process of adding a second image will make it all the much easier.

I appreciate so very much...and now I won't have to go through the backwards way I have been of adding second and third and 50th images to my posts as I have in the past. You should only know the round-about way of how I had done this previously!!!

    Thank you again and again!

    Jo
