Most of these insulting messages or rude comments were spurred on by comments that I had left. Strangely enough, however, the "flamers" are generally NOT the ones who received my so called rude comments (constructive critiques). The flamers propose that they are defending the over criticised author.
The funniest part about this is that when the "criticised author" is made aware of what their readers have said and/or done, they become very apologetic and annoyed with their reader.
Funnier still is when the author has actually ASKED me to give them a critical review.
The point is that flaming is immature and pointless even when you are the one that has been "attacked." Look at it this way, if the person really DID mean for their comment to be rude, do you really think they're going to care what you tell THEM? No, and in most cases these comments were only meant to be helpful in the first place.
You can take whatever comments you like into account and can just as easily ignore whichever ones you please (whether they're right or wrong). So instead of descending to their level (as the case may be), defending those who never asked for your assistance, or flaming someone who only meant to give you advice and is a far better poet, how about developing maturity?
I repeat, flaming is immature and pointless. That is, of course, unless you want to add a little laughter into someone's day. If that's the case, go ahead! Amuse people with your idiocy!
By the way, Allpoetry offers two outstanding features, Block and Ignore Lists. Why not make use of them?Flame me. I laugh.

, I get you though, lighten up peeps.
