INTRODUCION
The canon of scripture is a process that occurred in the 4th century AD were we recognized the Holy Bible which we have in the Christendom doctrine as the finale authoritative Word of God. This consists of 66 total books; 27 in the New Testament and 39 in the Old Testament. The actual process of the Old Testament canonization is unknown, but undeniably had to do with the life and relationship between God and His people as a worshiping nation. The New Testament Scripture was canonized according to their 'apostolicity', or in other words, the validity of the writings according their character in line with the rest of Scripture and the teachings of Jesus Christ. This apostolicity was the means in which the early church was lead into Christian living. The canon of Scripture was not an event, rather a several hundred year advance.
Beginning with 'local canons', it finally emerged into the canon which exists in Christendom today. In and through all this parade of Scriptures, it is the Holy Spirit whom we as Evangelical Christians believe was the active force in the finale of the production and preservation of God's Word.
ps. remember that these writings of mine are just that; my writings. It's what I've studied and broke down as much as I could to get to the central point of what I'm describing without getting too lengthly.

Thanks p. I have talked to many people who were raised in Catholicism. They all pretty much didn't know anything of the bible other than what was spoken of out of the daily reading. Kind of sad. I have worked hand in hand with an individual who has been in Catholicism their entire life. We were partners in High School ministry at a Christian church and I learned about catholocism through him. He has a love for the Catholic church, but has veered away from it due to the teachings and practices.
The thing is, is that we're all catholic, if you know what I mean. What I mean is that the word "Catholic" means "one body of Christ". We are all the big "C" Church, which is the Catholic church, not to be confused with the modern understanding of it, as in catholocism.
I think it's funny. When someone asks me what religion I am, my response is, "Well, I'm Baptist... Penticostal... Methodist... Catholic..." and anything else I can think of. I say I'm Baptist because I baptize people at my church, I'm Penticostal because I experience the Holy Spirit the way it fell on poeple at Pentecost, I'm Methodist because I worship God in many different methods and I'm Catholic because I am on member of Christ body. haha. I love that. I get a kick out of it.

Very Well Written
Thank You so much, this is like a bilble study for me. I too read about the canon.Funny how I've had a complete catholic upbringing school included. Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation..... We never studied the Bible. Read latin from our daily missle. It was good for me, I was a good child.I struggle with some of the beliefs as an adult. All the priests and nuns were very kind to me, I had strict parents and found the nuns were very rule oriented as well. Thank for your posting.....I enjoy your writing.
