Where Have I Been?

I've been MIA for a short time. Why?
This is mostly for the people who read my work on a regular basis. I've been somewhat MIA recently, and I have reasons. So if you have been wondering what's been happening in my life recently, feel free to read on.

I know I was once a lot more active than I have been, and I am sorry. I am doing a horrible job in staying in touch with those dearest to me on this site, and there are plenty of you. It even got so bad that I let my gold membership run out! Surprised Fixed that problem, though, so no worries there!

Motivation has been a little lacking lately. But for good and bad reasons.

The bad: My father passed out at work one day a few months back. He passed out a year ago while at the gym, and this was more of the same. Both times he was hurt fairly bad, but it was the underlying problem of why he passed out.

My father underwent double bypass surgery as well as valve replacement surgery not too long ago. He is currently in the healing process. But he ended up back in the hospital one more time after that for various issues. He seems to be doing pretty well now. But needless to say, this has been at the front of my mind as well as my mother's.

My mother had another issue to deal with. While dad was in the hospital the second time, she was using his car to get around due to her car not being as reliable anymore. One night, she backed out while going to see him and was involved in an accident. Unfortunately for me, she hit my car. But fortunately for us both, the car was parked and no one was inside. No one was hurt, but both cars were pretty banged up. So now mom had the stress of telling dad she'd hit my car with his. Oddly, I didn't get even slightly upset. To be honest, I found the whole ordeal to be completely hysterical! Come on! My mom hit my car with my dad's car! No one was hurt, so it doesn't get any
funnier than that! LOL! She was upset, but my thought is this: they are \cars\! No
one was hurt... the cars can be fixed!

The Good: most people who know me know that I want to be a cop. For various reasons, I have not taken the steps to become a cop yet. Well, I finally decided to do it. I took the first step on 9/11, yesterday. I dropped by the police department I decided I wanted to try for and made steps to do a ride along with an officer I know. Basically, I spend a night with a cop riding around to see what's happening, then decide if this is really what I want to do. And considering the low pay involved, it is really something to think about. But we're trying to set up a ride along right now, and if it works out, I will be applying shortly.

So there you go. My mind hasn't been on writing. It still really isn't, but I put two poems out there tonight in a sort of "forced writing" manner in an attempt to get back to it. We'll see how it works out.

Thanks for reading! And I promise I will try better to be a good AP friend!

Oh, my wonderful, beautiful sister, I am so glad to hear that you are back! I have truly missed you!!!!!

I'm sorry your dad has been ill. As for your mother and the car, you are right; the cars can be fixed. When bad things happen to good people we can sometimes forget about all the good things that have happened in our lives.

The good thing are that your dad is alive and getting better. Your mother is doing fine and was not hurt in the accident. You are able to get your vehicle fixed regardless of whatever else happens. And, of course, you are back where you belong. Life is good!

The fact that you took the first step to becoming a police officer is such wonderful news. I know you've wanted to do this for a very long time, and I'm very proud of you. That first step is the always the hardest!

You are one of the coolest people I know, and I'm so happy to know that things are falling into place for you. I'll send you my very special hug! Love, Patricia

Hey there!! I am so glad to hear some news from you. I am glad both your parents are getting back to better health. I also will be thinking about you doing that ride along. That will be a tought decision; but, I know it has been something you have wanted to investigate more deeply for a long time. Remember, the only regrets we have are usually the ones we create for ourselves. I hope it all works out in the way that fits you best. Take care Erin.
