Here is Chowder and all her puppies on Saturday evening - almost a day old! I slept with them in the TV room last night and they are doing so well. Chowder is just starting to leave them to eat and go for a short walk today. They are all thriving!
I have put different colored ribbons on each of the pups. That helps me to keep track of them. I’ll tell you a little about each of the puppies by referring to their ribbon color.
The first puppy born is Pinky - yep, she’s wearing the pink ribbon. She was 1 pound at birth and made the trip to the hospital with us. She sat in the waiting room for hours waiting to be reunited with her Mom and family. While we were in the waiting room, we met Lauren and her Dad Ed who brought their grey hound in for care. Lauren held Pinky for the whole time.
The second puppy born is the Big Blue Bruiser - yep the blue ribbon. He is the biggest puppy weighing in at 1 1/2 pounds. We think his size kept Chowder from delivering him at home.
We are not sure of the birth order of the rest of the pups that were born in the hospital. The next boy is named Aqua Marine and is a pounder and very active. The third boy is Isaiah and is wearing the green and yellow ribbon. He is the smallest of the three boys and is the puppy that Amanda and Wendy will probably be choosing for their very own.
The rest of the females are precious! The smallest little girl is called Marooned - yep a maroon ribbon! She was born in the hospital and only weighed 3/4 pounds. She still looks so tiny next to her big bruiser brother. She is very feisty and fights her way to her Mom and is doing very well. The biggest of the females is Yellow Submarine - yep, yellow ribbon. She is very strong and beautiful. Then there is Princess - the pup with the pink and white sparkly ribbon. She is so beautiful too. All the females except for Marooned weighed in at 1 pound. And last but not least is Peaches and Cream - yep, the peach ribbon. She was the surprise 8th puppy and a little gift sent from God.
Love and blessings to you all!

Very cute indeed.
They were precious indeed and I am so glad that I helped a friend of mine's dog survive after being hit by a car. The idea of a play pen does work, as I used it to corral some puppies of mine. They are glad to see you aren't they. -
Fabulous
They look so cute and cuddly. Love to hold one. My favourite is their breath. Nothing beats puppy breath. My bosses wife runs a animal rescue shelter from her house where I work. A fox terrier gave birth to her pups two weeks ago. too precious. The pups are growing up in a safe environment with love and nutrition. You sound like a real animal lover. My mom runs courses on animal communication and how to look after your animals nutrition and well being. Fascinates me, things I learn that I would have taken for granted. Thanks for sharing the pic and the birthing story. Fabulous. You make a good dog mommy. -
ohhh how beautiful! thank you so much for sharing. i couldn't resist the opportunity to see some puppies. new life seems to reaffirm old life in some strange way.

Now come the poems - one about each of the puppies, day by day - LOL Isn't this wonderful. Remember helping a cat have her kittens and being there forever it seemed. Lovely shot of them all too.

OH CONGRATULATIONS Grandma!
My dog Clementine had six puppies unexpectedly a day before I was to move to a new home on 10/31/04--(she was unmarried but "in love" with a summer-fling stray I kept until I could find him alternate housing with a good family)! I love the way puppies grunt when they are little like this...And the real fun begins in about four-to-six weeks when they're so aware of every move you make. I kept them in a baby's porta-crib and if I dared look over through the mesh and meet any one of their puppy-dog eyes, the whole herd of them would start yapping instantaneously!
Have fun with them all, and I know you will!

Beautiful, Great Details
Awww, Sis, this is just too cute, too precious! I love the details you've given us. I have a sneaky suspicion that Peaches and Cream may well grow to adulthood right there with her mommy.
They are so precious and I can tell you, it will be hard to let each one go to their new homes: been there done that. I was so hard on people that you would have thought they were adopting a human child.
Such a beautiful picture!
