Milk Tea A Story (Part 2)

My Sharp GX22 rang. Annoying, when I was just after a free autopsy endeavour.
'Pandora, this is Anton, get to the I-Club now.' An emotionless voice trailed.
My Sharp GX22 rang. Annoying, when I was just after a free autopsy endeavour.

'Pandora, this is Anton, get to the I-Club now.' An emotionless voice trailed. I ran across the street.

Anton was the mafia of Causeway Bay. Unlike most gangsters-to-be, he didn't have a muscle-toned body, nor did he reach 6'. What he had was a strategist's mind. How he became mafia, was all contributed to his intelligence.

When we were in 11th grade, there was the famous Anton vs Chan battle. Chan, infamous for his uncontrollable temper, had declared a fight with Anton, again. This time wanting to prove his superiority and hoping for an elite membership in the darker side of Causeway.

We gathered in the arena, (police wouldn't care since the mafia controlled the arena) with Chan clenching his fists, and Anton blankly looking at him. David, now the manager of arcades ran by the I-Club, was then the referee.

'Pandora' he shouted, 'get down here.'

'I want you to be the witness of the match. If Anton loses, he would give his BMW convertible to Chan, but if Chan loses, he will go to juvenile.'  (Indeed, Chan has committed too many crimes to be fit in a juvenile - house fire, stealing, killing animals...etc)

Just as I was about to exercise the slacker attitude.

Chan punched his way towards Anton. Fists tightened, waiting to burst Anton into shingles of sand. Anton dodged. Retreated. Turned. He was reading Chan's strategy.

A moment later, he grabbed Chan by the fists, kicked him in the stomach until he was grasping for air. Attacked with his bare hands into Chan's hands until droplets of blood poured. Victory declared.

'I don't even want to fight with you', Anton smirked.

Flashback ended, I quickly replied 'What for, Anton?'

'Remember the corpse that laid around Victoria Park, she was the mistress of Hiroshi Lee, head of the Dragon Gang. We have to maintain public relations between gangs, you know, and only you know Causeway like the back of your head.'

Darn Anton, why did you have to pull me into pools of trouble when slackitude could have been my essence of the day?

I-Club was surrounded by ecstatic mix of disco flashing lights, with its frozen blue tables. It is the deluxe entertainment spots for Causeway Kids, or Anton's minions who acted as city police of the dark side.

A man in crisped brown hair stood up. With the cliche Armani suit*, he is a gangster, or obviously, Hiroshi Lee.

'So you are Pandora, the famous poet of Perfume Chronicles? Anton has told me all about you.'

'But Sir, you sure she could handle a case like this? She doesn't even have the muscles to combat with other gangs!' A Dragon member shouted, as he eyed at me.

'Pandora knows Causeway Bay like a navigator who knows the sea', Anton interrupted, 'she saved my life once before the Taos tried to overthrow me as the mafia.'

Desperately, Hiroshi recalled the story of his deceased mistress, 'Leanne was a darling, I just wanted to know who killed her. Since she was my mistress, you know, I bought her an apartment near the Excelsior Hotel, and everday 2 bodyguards would escort her to wherever she was. Yet on 22nd September, she ordered for milk tea in the Golden Hawk Cafe, she was grabbed by 5 men. My bodyguards ran for their lives to save her, but one was already brutally killed, and another got his leg broken.'

The ever cliche 'I want to save my mistress' epic.

Hiroshi presented me with a chequebook, 'My check savings account has 3 million dollars, please feel free to use the account to find the murderer of my Leanne.'

Tears almost flooded his face as he spoke the name of Leanne.

I nodded, 'I shall see what I can do.'

The Dragon member who shouted at me now spoke, 'In order to help you, Chris will aid you in this case.'

Anton padded my shoulder, 'You are the strategist of Causeway Kids, you know that.'

A compliment from the emotionless mafia of Causeway Bay would be a lifetime wish for thousands, but not me.

'Thanks, mafia.'

Investigation began.*In the Hong Kong movie Internal Affairs, gangsters consistently wear Armani suits.

This is a little bit Ishida Ira-esque, I urge all of you to read the manga/book/movie if you have the time.

By the way, I will be off to settle down in North America by late August, so I don't know when I will have internet access. But no worries, I shall keep brainstorming and hopefully update by mid Sept. Thanks!

hmm, yes, the plot thickens. although in all fairness, and to give an honest critique i did not really enjoy the dialogue much, it seemed so emotionless, so like a bad hollywood movie. i don't know if it is just me, but maybe you could add more emotion behind the words, maybe change the lines a bit, integrate a bit of descriptiveness, for example the eyes of the man as he cried, umm how she was standing, etc...
don't get me wrong, i am still enjoying the story! i just would have enjoyed it more... ok, moving on to the next piece...

    So the plot thickens ...

I am liking this, although each part is too small for my preference

Just one specific comment. "kicked him in the stomach until he was grasping for air" Do you really mean GASPING here?

Off to read the rest now

Not much there for me to comment on really. However you did answer the questions that I asked in my last comment. It's all starting to make sense. We know the major players and who is doing what for what reasons. I guess the next one should eb about discoverng why the girl was murdered. It could be a payback from soem other mafia gang. It could be that she was silenced because she knew too much. It could be because of some twisted plan by the police to crack into the mafia world. I don't know really, but I'm waiting to find out!
