Forever Yours

A special memorial to our poets who are gone but not forgotten

Gone But Not Forgotten

~~§~~

Over the years since Kevin started AllPoetry, many remarkable people have passed through its doors. In the greater scheme of things the time we spend here is but a wink of an eye. However, in that very short time there have been people who have touched our hearts and minds with their words, love and fond memories.
While some of us knew them well and others only in passing we were all truly blessed to have spent a moment in time among their words.

Below are the links to some of the poets who have graced the pages of AllPoetry, leaving their final words for us to ponder. We hope that within these pages you will find something to brighten your day, heal your soul or just make you smile. Come, spend a few moments with some lost but not forgotten friends.

Dee Garner & Pat Williams

Always Near

I knew the day would come
When I’d have to say goodbye
I knew that it would hurt
And I knew that I would cry

But I truly didn’t know
How deep the pain would be
How lost I would feel
Once God set you free

I always knew you would leave
And our time would be too brief
But when that time finally came
I was enveloped in my grief

I look around me now
Waiting for you to appear
But somewhere deep inside
I know you’re always near

Tell Her

When tender tears, like autumn rains,
Turn sunny skies to grey.
Please tell her that my love remains,
T'will ever be that way.
If fate by fortune find forlorn,
The angel that I know.
And bring her precious heart to mourn,
Tell her I love her so.

Missing your smiles

Smiles, as though we shared a secret joke
That only we knew
Smiles across the room, as tho’ we spoke
A loving word or two
Smiles when my actions were pleasing
Wish there’d been more

Hand Of A Friend

You understand my heart,
You know me inside and out
You listen to my non-sense
You know what I'm all about
I can not lie to you
I can not keep things hidden
But I know when I make mistakes
I'll always be forgiven

Follow me, he said;
But I had just awakened
And there were morning chores to do
And nothing to gain by following --

Yet in the tone of his voice
An unspoken promise.

Dreams Under The Willow

Under the clouds I’m transported to your close embrace
Hidden from the world caged under the hanging willow
Secluded from anything that may distract me from your side
Branches sway with gracing winds on leaves twirling low.

Dee... you have an amazing heart. This is such a beautiful and tender tribute to the great writers that AP has lost. It truly is a loss and saddens the heart. I've known a couple of these, but not personally...but was hurt nonetheless. Thank you for taking it upon yourself to remind us of those we've lost... I sure hope there won't be anymore added to that list any time soon.

When some one near dies it is a sad day. When a friend dies a piece of yourself dies with him. But real good friends leave a piece of themself to comfort and to remind forever. So did these people. A tribute to them is as giving others a piece of the joy these friendships brought. Therefore a lot of thanks.
I knew Del for a short time and loved his work. What you both show from the others makes me curious.

Thank you for visiting this memorial, Ahtemus Wolf. This is to be an ongoing work in progress so if you can give us confirmation/verification and name of your group member who passed away, we can certainly add them to the page. What we need is the user name and real name if you have it, and a way to verify everything. If we have the real name and location we can check the obituaries. I'm sorry we aren't allowed to put anyone here without this verification. In the past there have been some faked/mistaken death announcements of our poets so Kevin requires us to be careful about that.

Again, thanks for stopping in and we hope you'll visit some of these poets work

Such a wonderful tribute. Each of us, deep within, hope that we are remembered when we are gone. It is gratifying to know that these souls are not forgotten. I hope their families know that they are living on in the memory of so many.

I do want to mention that the background colours here make all the links and names invisible. The white on white is not showing up. Just an FYI.

Thank you, Red Red Rose for visiting and commenting on our monument. Yes, Del was a splendid man. I was one of the authors in the book that he was ready to publish, Converging Roads. We were all deeply saddened by his death.

How fortunate that you knew him personally, Linda. I live in Phoenix and he lived in Tucson, a couple hours drive away, and we had talked a bit about meeting soon. How sad that we tend to put off things, especially when they could mean so much to us.

I'm not here for me, soon... maybe. I'm happy to be online at home again, but here at ap, I just wanted to find old friends again I've not seen in over a year. I can pen anytime but I've learned that others need what I thought I did. The muse is always loose but my moods are kind of too dreary to write. When I begin to pen again, it must be worthy of my total energy for the sole purpose to lift someone with that being not necessarily for me. But I am back at ap and hopefully you'll see a better part of me.

Sadly, I was offline a long time, but thankfully, I'm still alive and well to grab hold of new possibilities for tomorrow, whether it be my poetry or just ways of better living. Dee, thank you for being such a friend to me. If I soon take up my pen again, I'll be sure to inform you. May God richly bless your work with sweet success.

Once again, this is a sweet tribute.

This is wonderful for us who did not know these poets, and for those new to this site to admire and learn from others who went before us. I am sure the names will grow on this column over the years. A wonderful way to acknowledge their existance anad their contribution to this site. Thanks so much for sharing.

Blessed little one, please don't feel that you're out of line with your question, you aren't... by all means if you think or know that someone from allpoetry has passed away, we want to know, because we'll be adding more as we learn of them. Where did you hear that Honesty Abounds has passed on? If we can get enough verifiable information that they did we most certainly will add that poet.

Thank you for your interest and for visiting the page

    Dee

i love this, and the title...and the poems...and i get so sad when think about how so many have come and gone, and how much changes over time...but in that sadness i cant but help a tiny smile knowing that such great writers sat at the computer just like i am now, thinking of the past makes me sad, but a little happy at the same time, i can explain it....

Even though I have only been here in AP a few months, I have already felt the love, hope and compassion of many poets that have left their footprints on the sands of time in the "here and now" of AP! In my heart I know thier souls have seen and read all the responses that have been left in this "home away from home." Blessings to you both for this beautiful tribute!

This is a beautiful things to do, Lady...Your inherent Grace is surpassed only by your obvious compassion, Dee. One is not the same as the other. A Poet requires both, if they are to be both successful & steadfast. The words on this page is an incredibly clear vision of their sacred dreams, painted with a kaleidoscopic palette of words filled with their own unique Spirits. To those Poets who are left behind, to carry on the legacy these wonderful people helped create, please continue sharing your gift with the world; the world needs all the Poets it can hold. As you can see by this posting, your words matter to someone a great deal. Well done, Poets, one & all. You brush our lives with your silken wings, even now. May you all rest in Peace & thank you for being Poets in this World. Wanda

I hope this gets added to with more great poets who sadly pass on. It would be an honour to reach this page, should anything happen. Some fantastic pieces of work there. It is a shame that comments will never be read by those poets, but some of those poems just with their sheer honesty really touched me. This was a great idea, thank you for sharing this with me

    Take care

This is very beautiful what you have done dear Dee... I've been hovering through these author's pages before and each time they leave me speechless... with an empty feeling in fact, pushing back the why's and the how's and let them replace by the grattitude for their beautiful words left on here...
Really thoughtful of you to write this column

    Thank you!

I'm so happy to see this become a reality. It truly does my heart good to know our fellow poets have a page with which to visit. For those of that have never met or know these poets they can learn. For others it is a place to come and pay their respects. What I would like to know is this. Can this not be added to the poetry drop down menu? How is anyone to know it is here? How are we to be led here? The drop down menu could say "Memorial" other sites do this. Bookmarking only holds just so many poems. For now I will copy and paste onto my desktop for safe keeping. To really be part of this community it should be in the drop down menu. I love the background and set up on the page. It's absolutely beautiful. Bless you both for the time and effort you put forth with genuine love of one another.

Dear Dee and Pat, what a magnificent memory to our dear departed poets, I was so excited when I first saw the beginning of it and now to come back and find you've added poets already, including our beloved Pat, Jean and Del.
Pat, you have done a remarkable job on this, I'm sorry we haven't kept in touch and that our venture we planned never eventuated, I've leant a lot since we first started talking about it with the help of my friend Hugh Wyles who has been teaching me.
Dee, you're such a sweetheart and you have such a wonderful big heart, I admire you so much my friend, thank you once again for this wonderful dedication. You, Pat and myself share a special bond, we all loved our Pat so much and we all miss him.
    Love to both of you.

Pat has done just about all of the work on this project, it wasn't meant to be so one sided but I've become bogged down with work here with our business...much more than normal, she's great and I knew she would do a beautiful job.

    Thank you for your support

In all my years...even (no, especially) in my time as a minister, I've never found the words that can make the loss of the ones we love bearable. At least, here, we can come back to hear their own words again.

    Dearest Pat,
This is a very special project you are working on I remember Vicki I didn't get to know her long enough. But I believe she wanted me to be her sister I think. We never know sadly when someone we love is going to die. Your poem above is so heartfelt and beautiful even in the painful sadness of loss. I like to thank you for your kindness to me at AP and I'm glad we have crossed paths again. I think its wonderful you are keeping the memories of poets alive through poetry. Shows that they mattered and still do even though they passed. ♥

I wrote a colum on this subject not so long ago allpoetry.com/Column/1682140....as long as it gets done I'm happy to see that. It just seems to me it's way over due. That a site for quotes would take precidence. I sent this to kevin twice with out an answer. So I thought it was dismissed. I'm very happy to know that someone else thinks like I do.
