Forever Yours

A special memorial to our poets who are gone but not forgotten

Gone But Not Forgotten

~~§~~

Over the years since Kevin started AllPoetry, many remarkable people have passed through its doors. In the greater scheme of things the time we spend here is but a wink of an eye. However, in that very short time there have been people who have touched our hearts and minds with their words, love and fond memories.
While some of us knew them well and others only in passing we were all truly blessed to have spent a moment in time among their words.

Below are the links to some of the poets who have graced the pages of AllPoetry, leaving their final words for us to ponder. We hope that within these pages you will find something to brighten your day, heal your soul or just make you smile. Come, spend a few moments with some lost but not forgotten friends.

Dee Garner & Pat Williams

Always Near

I knew the day would come
When I’d have to say goodbye
I knew that it would hurt
And I knew that I would cry

But I truly didn’t know
How deep the pain would be
How lost I would feel
Once God set you free

I always knew you would leave
And our time would be too brief
But when that time finally came
I was enveloped in my grief

I look around me now
Waiting for you to appear
But somewhere deep inside
I know you’re always near

Tell Her

When tender tears, like autumn rains,
Turn sunny skies to grey.
Please tell her that my love remains,
T'will ever be that way.
If fate by fortune find forlorn,
The angel that I know.
And bring her precious heart to mourn,
Tell her I love her so.

Smiles, as though we shared a secret joke
That only we knew
Smiles across the room, as tho’ we spoke
A loving word or two
Smiles when my actions were pleasing
Wish there’d been more

Hand Of A Friend

You understand my heart,
You know me inside and out
You listen to my non-sense
You know what I'm all about
I can not lie to you
I can not keep things hidden
But I know when I make mistakes
I'll always be forgiven

Follow me, he said;

And there were morning chores to do
And nothing to gain by following --

Yet in the tone of his voice
An unspoken promise.

Under the clouds I’m transported to your close embrace
Hidden from the world caged under the hanging willow
Secluded from anything that may distract me from your side
Branches sway with gracing winds on leaves twirling low.

    Beautiful tribute,,,

I did not have the pleasure of knowing most of the wonderful poets listed, but I did know and love Timothy (Lionslove) and he brought happiness and friendship to myself and may others here at AP, and I thank you for paying tribute to him and the other poets....

This is a touching tribute to many poets, I am fairly new to the site, and Lionslove was one of the first people I met here, and he touched my life very deeply! It truly is heartbreaking to loose such a wonderful man! Thanks for having a page where we may pay our respects to those that we loved and cherished.

    YOU MADE ME CRY

WOW!! Honey, you outdid yourself this time. Of all the things you've ever done or written, this is definitely one of the most wonderful ones. I didn't get to meet them all, but I know at least half. I specifically remember when Trayseelynn passed away. She was the original PeePeeFairyQueen. I need to put my picture she made me back up. And repomen...WOW. What can I say. I'm all teared up now. Thanks. You are a truly amazing lady, and one of my mentors and inspirations in my writing. This is a wonderful example of why. Thank you so much for creating the perfect tribute to those who are no longer amongst us.

    Dear Dee and Pat,
Thankyou for this very fitting tribute to those who have passed away from All Poetry's ranks and for the selections of their writings.
Though their voices are silent and their pens are still, we are blessed with the legacy of their verse and our memories of them.
Perhaps we too may be remembered for what we write.

"And yet, perhaps, some vestige of their verse
may an inquiring future voice inspire
to speak their name for better or for worse
so, from this world, their loss be not entire."

With love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

I think these tributes are a wonderful idea. It add the human touch and make these people real - not just a name on a computer screen, but acknowledging the realities and the humanness of the hands that held the pen. It gives me hope and says a lot about the management of AP. God bless their souls - and yours.

    Soothing

I feel such peace and serenity when coming here. As I have said earlier this week in a comment: true life is about souls -- and souls are immortal. So dying is to become present in the divine dimension -- forever. As God is with us, and we are part of God, we ARE part of those who departed -- eternally.

Thank you for a precious page, once again, so refined in its presentation. It is like a visit to a heavenly place. And: can you believe that I have stolen the heavenly images? (the background etc.) Thank you -- I will use it with very special poetry.

LOVE to you two darling souls.

    Hi Dee,

As you are probably aware, the 1st Anniversary of Del's death is approaching. Somehow I want to let the people who entered the tribute/contest for him know that I am sending the compiled poetry in a book form to his family. I was unable to send it when I initially wanted to and a year has already come and gone. I was wondering how I do this without having to IM everyone. Should I just add it as a entry on my page and refer to the link of the contest?

    allpoetry.com/Contest/1533862

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Much Love,

I do hope you'll take the time to read some of their writings ..you'll find some amazing poetry there. Sadly, we'll be adding another member within the next few days. Perhaps you will return to read about her as well.

you know how remakable you are,i never knew anything about what happened to members on ALLPOETRY.i liked that you had a pictures
for each poem.i liked that they were short and wonderfull. You have reminded us of once the people who lived.it's very emotional for me.i bet it took you hard work to write these
poems but it all pays-off.just wonderfull and it's plain out good.good job, keep writing.

They were all really well done, but Always Near definitely hit me the hardest. Very well written, although a few places I felt it could have been shortened slightly. Just a few little contractions. Overall... it dang near put me to tears. Mostly though, they all conveyed a beautiful message.

Awww... that is so sweet of you to do this! I enjoyed reading every one of the messages and I found this concept to be very interesting:

    "How lost I would feel
Once God set you free "

It makes one stop and reflect - does God free us from life when we leave this world, or does He give us true life instead?

    Thanks for the read.

    Must read,awesome tribute

An awesome tribute to those who briefly touched our lives. Some taking a little piece of our hearts with them. Thank you Dee and Stormdancer for all the work done here on this breath taking section of poetry. We should and must never forget those who walked through our lives. Those dear souls stopped, smiled, touch us and left us better people for the Blessing of the encounters we had with them through their words. God Bless You Both for this endeavor. Presentation is beyond words!

When a poet leaves his or her mark behind on a heart
It is a gift to treasure for eternity even when we are apart
We all have wings, Some broken, Some bruised, And even battered
But we are all one big family of poets here on ap..

This is beautiful Dee and Pat. Thanks for posting it.

Repo was one of my first friends at AP. He was a kind and generous and loving man. I still miss him today.

I didn't hear of Jean's passing till a few months later. He was quite the character.

    A weSUM beyond words

This is a hallowed tribute to those known by the simple words they left upon consciousness of all who read their work....

    I am in awe...

Words of a poet are timeless
whether read by many or few,
    Eternally etched in consciousness
    and the blessings they imbue.

    Love, passion or injustice
forever etched in mind and heart.
    Resting in peace knowing
    eternal blessings they impart.

The grace and kindness you showed by putting this page together touched my heart as much as the words of the poets you shared with us. May their souls find the peace and happiness they gave to others, and that they deserve. We are richer for having known them, and heaven is richer to have them now.

Thanks again for this. It's a magnificent gesture and so beautifully done.

You have touched me Dee and Pat, by simply taking the time to remember others that have gone before us to light the pathway..

In recent months I have learned so many close their eyes to things around them, while others? Go with eyes wide open.

    Blessings to you both and

    Peace to their families,

What a beautiful tribute to those gone before us. I'm adding a tribute poem I wrote for a contest to honor those gone before here on AP.
    Ruth

    Life Is Not Permanent

    Life: it is not permanent
You knew that from the start
And so you took each breath, each sigh
    That captured your own heart
Then penned it for here for us to read
    Long after you were gone
    Your very own remembrance left
    So you might carry on

    Life: it is not permanent
    Though you will always live
For in this greedy world of ours
You took the time to give
A fragment of your very life
    A glimpse into your soul
    Composed in words of poetry
    Your loving hands inscrolled

    Life: it is not permanent
Though not for death I yearn
I still can’t help but smile to think
That when it is my turn
You’ll welcome me in open arms
    With Shelly, Byron, Yeats
And all those poets gone before
    Inside of heaven’s gates

Dear Dee and Pat, I love the way "Forever Yours" is beginning to become a wonderful place to come and visit our loved Poets who have passed. I've been to visit Patric and Jean earlier and the memories come flooding back. Thank you for placing this where it can be seen. You are both beautiful ladies and I love you both.

    WONDERFUL

Dearest Pat & Dee, What wonderful tribute you have given us in memory of our dearly departed friends.

    Weep Not

Weep not for me this day
    As you sadly bow
    And quietly kneel
    To pray.
    But lift up your heart
    To Heaven,
    To Your God
    Who will find a way,
    To comfort your soul
    With love
    And listen
    As you pray.

    Fear not,
    Now that I have gone
    To be with comrades
    Walking arm in arm
    Along eternal shores
    Far beyond
    Those distant stars
    Where I shall bide
    Until you do come
    To be with me for
    Evermore.

May God's Blessings rain abundantly for you both.
    Take every care Dear Friends,
    Sammy

    Excellent

This is one of the most heartfelt pages I have ever read. For when those friends do pass through, and your heart doesn't realize that they are gone, until you don't hear from them anymore, that is when it hits your inner self, and the tears begin to flow. I recently lost another friend, and although she wasn't a poet, she was an adopted friend and sister for they who loved her. Your poems, and words have helped me to find a way of getting myself to know she will always be within my love, and heart. God Bless you all.
