Forever Yours

A special memorial to our poets who are gone but not forgotten

Gone But Not Forgotten

~~§~~

Over the years since Kevin started AllPoetry, many remarkable people have passed through its doors. In the greater scheme of things the time we spend here is but a wink of an eye. However, in that very short time there have been people who have touched our hearts and minds with their words, love and fond memories.
While some of us knew them well and others only in passing we were all truly blessed to have spent a moment in time among their words.

Below are the links to some of the poets who have graced the pages of AllPoetry, leaving their final words for us to ponder. We hope that within these pages you will find something to brighten your day, heal your soul or just make you smile. Come, spend a few moments with some lost but not forgotten friends.

Dee Garner & Pat Williams

Always Near

I knew the day would come
When I’d have to say goodbye
I knew that it would hurt
And I knew that I would cry

But I truly didn’t know
How deep the pain would be
How lost I would feel
Once God set you free

I always knew you would leave
And our time would be too brief
But when that time finally came
I was enveloped in my grief

I look around me now
Waiting for you to appear
But somewhere deep inside
I know you’re always near

Tell Her

When tender tears, like autumn rains,
Turn sunny skies to grey.
Please tell her that my love remains,
T'will ever be that way.
If fate by fortune find forlorn,
The angel that I know.
And bring her precious heart to mourn,
Tell her I love her so.

Missing your smiles

Smiles, as though we shared a secret joke
That only we knew
Smiles across the room, as tho’ we spoke
A loving word or two
Smiles when my actions were pleasing
Wish there’d been more

Hand Of A Friend

You understand my heart,
You know me inside and out
You listen to my non-sense
You know what I'm all about
I can not lie to you
I can not keep things hidden
But I know when I make mistakes
I'll always be forgiven

Follow Me

Follow me, he said;
But I had just awakened
And there were morning chores to do
And nothing to gain by following --

Yet in the tone of his voice
An unspoken promise.

Dreams Under The Willow

Under the clouds I’m transported to your close embrace
Hidden from the world caged under the hanging willow
Secluded from anything that may distract me from your side
Branches sway with gracing winds on leaves twirling low.

It is truly a testament to the power of words that on such a global plain, there are those who are remembered, even through the anonymity of the internet. I know only a very few of the names listed, but it is wonderful that those outside their small community of r-l friends and family will remember them. Thank you for the opportunity, catz.

Catz You are an truly beautiful person on what you wrote about my blood sister

Tears fall from my eyes as I saw what you done with my blood sister. Dee, DSpiritsong. She was my sister as a twin, not of the same blood of parents. We found each other about 7 years ago. She and I have the same birthday July 6 She was one year older that I. But that didnt mean anything to us. The fact was that god sent us together to learn from each other. We of the tribal people she was the keeper of spirits and I was the Elder and visionary. She saw the same thing I saw. We talk to each other in our spirits and sleep. Never a dull moment with us. The few night before she pass I felt strange so I call her on the cell phone. She assure me that she was okay. I was ask to dance the honor of the grand entry in okla. she told me to go and when I came home five days later, I call the cell. She was gone. Now I knew why I almost then go. Pat our freind that took care of her came to the phone and told me. Dee was tired and she been tired quite a bit. I dance those dances for her honor now I know why. If you ever got to know her. she was a beautiful soul and spirits that flies. to the moon to earth to the mountain to the tribal ground. She was in council with the spirits as I was with her when they did. We were one together and always will be. She is the best freind I could of had. and always will be.
Dspiritson is a blessing to all of us.

So many young people on here, it is so saddening on this day we set aside to remember those who have gone on. Each so special in their own way. My heart goes out to these families of all these special individuals and hope that they have been able to overcome their grief and are at peace. Thanks for putting this memorial up it sure puts things into perspective. May God bless each and every person whohas lost a loved one and each and every personon this site. I didn't know any of them, as I am quite new here, but I have read some bio's and some of there works, so touching and some so very young. I'll never forget dittysr aka Jean. We talked and I couldn't imagine the things that he was suffering through with oral cancer and to still show such bravery. Imagine no tongue.....graphic yes but it happens. He endured a lot yet came here and entertained us with his many ditty's. He waited for the moment to come so he could again join his wife who pre-deseased him.
I will always hold him dear in my heart.
His son also writes here. He should be so proud of his dad. A very strong and loving man.

Would it not be a glorious emotion if we all could and would learnt how to embrace death as we do the new cry of a baby born. I sometimes wonder why so many of us fear the loss of the body make of flesh, when the soul of the dead still and will always remain deep with in hearts and minds of those who remember them well.

death is a teacher and good reminder to teach us to be more giving without reward and remind us that earthly possessions does not make us any more or less valuable.

We all speak the universal language....we all laugh and cry the same

I thought I would let you know, I am in receipt of a memorial on Lionslove, and his B-day was 9-15-65. You have it listed as 9-14-65. He is one that I knew well and miss horribly.

    wonderful idea

truly touching. I wish we cold add a poem, or send it to you, perhaps to include or use for future use. I have one that will be added into the book for xLionsLoveX (Tim) that i think would do well here and for all those that have passed from our little family here. I loved the ones you have shown as well... GOOD WORK !!!

This is a beautiful tribute, truely honouring poets who have spent time in our midst. Thank you for sharing this with us.
It's heartbreaking to read these people's final thoughts, I met some of these people in the time i've been here and even shared some words with some of them, it's saddening to see them listed here in this tribute.

As much as we hate to see a new name added, this is a very touching way to remember each and every one. Thank you three for taking the time to share a verse of what made each one of them unique and special.

    RIP

I knew some of these people and they were just wonderful inspiring people. IT saddens me to lose people, and some so tragically. What a wonderful memroial for them Thank you for doing this, it does help..Great job! People come and go, and even though we only know each other through mere words on a screen, you feel the pain of losing someone. It does hurt..and sometimes even worse, because you cant be there, and you may feel guilty for not being there...but a wonderful memorial guys. Great job!

    Magnificent

Thank you Catz for this beautiful piece to reflect on. It is a difficult thought to think of knowing that we all have our time. And in that time here we may never meet the people we find so dear to us. I struggle with this myself. Not able to be there in person to comfort a friend. Words will have todo for now and hopefully those words will bring happiness and true emotions for what ever plagues the hearts and minds of our new found friends and fans. May our community of poets do our best through what we have been given to do the most we can for others. As here not to forget the ones gone by. They truly are accounted for because of their contribution to us all. Wonderful thing you have done here. You friend, Don

Thanks for sharing although I still find it hard to believe that Lionslove left AP.

I visit the pages of a few of these authors here frequently, just wander upon their words... one thing I find is that it would be wonderful to still be able to leave comments on their author pages, especially so family who visit now and then, know their loved ones are still thought of. I tried once but of course the testimonials are not being approved, perhaps the mods are able to allow the page to receive the testimonials without approval... would be nice to leave some words upon their pages...

Tis a beautiful job, you have all done here... I see a few good friends amongst these names...

Rest in Peace to all the good poets in this list

      Hi Karen,
You can now leave comments as we've changed the poet preference to automaticaly approve them If you run across one that might have been missed please let me know. As a moderator it's easy to go in and change them. I just hadn't thought of it since the upgrade, until AnnD reminded me and went ahead and did it. Now I'm doing it as poets are added.

Thank you for visiting the memorial and your kind comment

      Dee

PS... this is catz... I hadn't realized until I'd already posted this, that I was on my Granny Goose logon

    It hurts

To know that never again will their pens be lifted, but throught what they have shared with us the tears and laughter we will always carry a piece of them. When we write a bit of their spirit will flow through us and in that way they will always be remembered. Thank you for creating this wonderful tribute to those we may have lost but will never forget.

    Thank You

I'm so happy that you've reposted this page. I had it bookmarked the first time but lost it in the upgrade. This being a page near and dear to me again I'm so happy to see it come to pass. You and Pat have created an absolutely beautiful page. It's light and soft and welcoming without being too sombre. I will be journeying through the pages of those poets here. I really look forward to this page becoming a permenant fixture on the home page, like in the drop down menu. Other sites do that. I think a page like this is so important. It's also a place that families can come to from time to time not only to reminice but to see how their loved ones work touched and continues to touch the lives of many around the world.

thank you for this catz. these people live on through their writing, and through the legacy they left on so many hearts they touched here at AP. I knew not a single one of them until reading this page, for the site is large, and i am shy. but it gives me hope to read their stories, and most of all, to see what a loving community AP is.

you and everyone that has commented on any of these folks, do them the ultimate tribute by keeping their memory alive.

i can only hope that i am still able to be in a community as wonderful as AP when my Creator sends the Angel to bring me Home. I have no partner and cannot have children, so my only chance at a legacy will be writing.

thanks again, for this deeply moving tribute page.
