The first title was published in 1923 by Methuen, London and the second in 1924 by Houghton Mifflin of Boston and New York

Both volumes contain the message

NOTE
This volume contains-as well as some poems not before
published in book form-selections from four previous volumes:
Small Craft, Rovings and Ships and Folks, Elkin
Mathews. Ltd.), and Rhymes of the Red Ensign, published
by Messrs. Hodder &• Stoughton; to whom, and to the Proprietors
of Punch and the editors of the "London Mercury". "the
Sphere", "the Windsor Magazine" and other periodicals, the
author is indebted for permission to reprint.
