28. Be5+5. White: I'm not sure about this move, it has potential but I'm looking at this and can't seem to focus at a proper depth. I think it'll pan out but I could've messed up the game right here as well.
7. White: beginning to become unsure of myself, last move I fear I made a wasted move. Again, time will have to tell. I castle king side.
8. White: I fail to see black's side of this move and think back to my childhood memories when I used to play a lot with my dad and a few friends. I'd always lose to my dad, it wasn't until I was reaching my teens that I won a game. I thank him now that he never went easy on me. Re1 check.
8. Black: This move is a bit risky, but there isn't much else I could do that would allow me to castle quickly and not lose more time or material that I care to at this point.
9. White: I used to play in bed nearly night with a computer chess board I had after attending chess club for a few weeks. Oddly I didn't enjoy chess club, maybe it was the people?
9. Black: White's put me in a tough spot and has the upper hand positionally.
10. White: I usually take a very offensive route when playing against someone, this is no exception. I have mental problems losing a knight to a pawn (which I forsee happening), but then as much as I've studied knights I have never been able to use them like in the dreams I've had. I believe it would've been wiser to take my pawn with pawn so that I couldn't take his pawn. He would also have room to move his bishop through to an offensive? (some thoughts).
10. Black: I'd thought about 10. ...cxd4, but decided against it in favor of opening things up a bit with 10. ...Nxd4. Like Profanity, I tend to be aggressive when possible.
13. Black: I'm quite happy with 13. ...Ne4 here. I feel as if I've gotten myself out of a pretty good jam.
14. Black: I've just realized, after castling, that I've messed myself up pretty good. I'll have to pull something miraculous out if I want to even have a chance at pulling out a win.
15. White: I should've seen him do that last move, it becomes such a sneaky thing when someone castles. I remember that one time my dad had me between a check and taking my queen with his knight, I think it was then I experienced the awesome power of knights. I Rxe4, perhaps I can back out sometime if need be.
15. Black: Being an aggressive player, I feel 15. ...dxe4 is best at the moment; there is little else I can do at the moment.
17. Black: Yep, I'm gonna lose. lol
18. White: I'm not sure black realizes that he was within 3 moves of having me in checkmate there, that's a sure sign that all is not lost, usually anyway. When I compare the outcome of this I think black will 'literally' be ahead. We'll both have 1 rook, 1 bishop and 6 pawns. Oh, and 1 king.
18. Black: No, I knew quite well what the situation was, though harbored no hope of performing that checkmate because I knew White was too smart and skilled to allow it. White also has forgotten that, as a result of the various Exchanges that went on in the last few moves, he is ahead by a knight. Needless to say, the situation is grim for me.
25. Black: I'd say it's apparent that I'm on a losing path.
28. Black: I resign; white (Profanity) wins.

I love Chess...
I have been playing chess for 11 years...my problem is finding someone to play with that doesn't want to quit half way through the game... Bobby Fischer is my hero and I cried when he died a few days ago...a true nerd through and through...I might play out this game for fun when I get some spare time..
Peace,
Kay Laon Anders

I liked Fischer mainly because he was so aggressive, but not heedlessly so. His moves were almost always precisely calculated and he often came up with attacks from seemingly-nothing. Many of his games are a lot of fun to go back to and look over.
The game that Profanity and I played, though, was kinda dull. I blew the opening and he, like any good player, squeezed me 'til I had no hope of coming back.

I have found it very hard over the years to continue playing with poeple, as hardly anyone I know plays. I'd like to see the arrival of a chess board in cafe's in things, it could draw people in. I'd like to be a very common hobby but then maybe people don't learn of the history before the lesson.

This is very awesome what you are doing, I have not played chess in many, MANY years...My dad taught me, and at one time I new what the different notations stood for. This inspires me to look it up and perhaps start playing again, good luck to both of you on the game!!

This takes thinking - serious kind. Not in that kind of mood right now -have a chess club here that meet every Thursday evening and play in the local cafe- kind of interesting - droctors against kids, - all in fun, but some serious stuff too. Good luck...

I'm not into chess, but this is a piece which I found to be very symbolic ... congratulations on a very unique piece of writing

It would be nice if chess were to regain the popularity it once held, but, like anything else, chess, in terms of popularity, ebbs and flows. Only time will tell how the game is treated later on in society.

I wonder why it is that chess isn't so widely adopted. My answer is that these days it seems to have acquired a geek level, while I think in the past it has been always a very wise game that if you knew, and became good at. You were respected so very highly. I'd like to see that happen again in these times.

As have I; everything revolves around strategy, cunning, tactics, even psychological movements. It's a great game, and what's even neater is that there's really no such thing as a "perfect" chess game, whereas it's possible to play a "perfect" game in checkers.

Well, it's one of those things that just sticks out as very simple, but the little things become so much more intense it's weird.
I've loved chess from the beginning. -
I've never cared much for it myself.
-
Oh see, now checkers is something that I just can't get my mind around. It's very oversimplified and that complicates things in my mind.
-
I seem to recall you telling me that you're damn good at checkers.
-
Well, if you like, grab a board and follow along with us.
Tell your husband he should play me; I'll avenge your losses!
-
Ohhh...so this is where the nerds go and play, eh?
lol Sorry, kiddos...I only do checkers...and I even suck at that!
Good luck to you all!
-
I so such at chess. The only thing I'm good at, as concerns the game, is throwing the pieces at my husband when he beats me.
