Halloween Remembered

Growing up I can remember my Mom and Dad getting together my costume weeks in advance.

Growing up I can remember my Mom and Dad getting together my costume weeks in advance.

I had to resort to buying costumes for the first time ever for my children this year.
Thanks to Dislocated Shoulder, it is breaking not only my heart but my wallet!!
A ugly blue sheet was once upon a time a grand cape for my Dracula costume, I had my face painted white , black around my eyes and my lips were red.
I had so much joy spinning around in it, and got lots of great comments.

My parents were busy both worked, and yet took time out for me , for the Love of Halloween.
Like everything else these days, Halloween has become simple, fast and very easy.

 It breaks my heart.

I drew then cut out ghosts and pumpkins for my kids and yep they look cheesy but I love having them on my kitchen cabinets,my windows and front door.

I sat here tonight and sliced apples and cinnamon and sugar with a bit of butter, we pigged out and my house smelt like Fall.
Then I added up what I spent at the Disney Store, Toys-R -Us and Target.
Needless to say we will be eating hot dogs for the rest of the month thanks to their extreme pricing.

Am I nuts for missing the days when everything wasn't ready in a instant?
 Truly I wonder.

But then you can't even make Popcorn Balls to give out for fear, I loved those as a fat kid.
I actually saw fat free candy. Broke my heart the one time you are supposed to eat till you explode with sugar and someone wants you to diet.

(Okay I know kids are diabetic and that hurts me for them as well)

But bring on the past.

I miss it.

And I wish I had kept that blue sheet.
