The Church’s Favorite Victim Is Itself


At first it seemed like isolated instances, a few–albeit disturbed--Catholic priests were found to have committed acts of molestation and rape upon a few altar boys; horrible, but obscure nonetheless. But that spark soon gave way to a wildfire of cases of rape and molestation, and the fire soon threatened to engulf the entire Catholic Church.

Pope John Paul II stepped up to the plate in response to the cases of molestation. He, and the Vatican, began discussing a new ‘instruction’ for the church, but the official word on it was not released until after John Paul II passed away.

Now, the new pope, former Cardinal Ratzinger has stepped up to bat. He approved the oft-talked about document, and it was passed soon after.

The new ‘instruction’ created in response to the cases of molestation and pedophilia is nothing more than a misguided political stab.

The text is to be an instruction denying homosexual men from the seminaries even if they are celibate. Archbishop Edwin O’Brien, who is in charge of the investigation stated that he believes ‘men with strong homosexual incantations’ should be denied priesthood.

While the Church and fractions of its more conservative branches have hailed the text as a great step forward in eradicating the cases of molestation, very few have paid any attention to the facts surrounding the text and the nature of the molestation.

First and most interesting, is that the text does not mention the term ‘pedophile’. Rather, it focuses on homosexuals–who to the church, seem to be the same thing as the former. Obviously this is totally biased and uneducated.  A dogma instilled by the Church to cover its own end. Homosexuals and Pedophiles are not synonyms by a long shot, in fact if the Church had listened to the opinion of medical professionals...they may have heard something like this:

"Mental health professionals agree that pedophilia should never be considered normal, because it is truly a disease. None of the things that make homosexuality a normal variation of human sexuality apply to pedophilia."

"The vast majority of offenders are heterosexual men. Male offenders who abuse young boys maintain adult heterosexual relationships. The habitual molester of boys is rarely attracted to adult males."

Or perhaps the comments provided by the officials in charge of dealing with pedophiles and molestation could have proved helpful.

"It is ludicrous to identify pedophiles as homosexuals."

The ideas expressed by these professionals are not obscure or biased.  They are the result of years of information gathering and experience. The knowledge provided by such mental health officials even surpasses the fact that homosexuality and pedophilia are not related, it goes further to indicate that it is heterosexuals who commit the great majority of molestation and pedophilia. The knowledge is widespread and embraced by almost all scientific and law-minded officials, and yet the Vatican refused to listen.

Why? Why would the Vatican refuse to listen to the opinions of professionals? The answer is obvious. Power and Pride. In order to save face, and to maintain its power the Vatican picked an easy scapegoat. Gays. They have denied the information present to them, and instead of facing the problem and saving thousands of children they have sided with pride and power.

The misguided instruction is only denying the rights of homosexuals of the faith, and also starving the already hungry Church of much needed clergy.  It is the Church who will ultimately fall victim to this shameless finger-pointing, and perhaps when that time comes, the Church will finally take action against the evils of its own people.

This is ridiculous. Once it was Jews, then it was Blacks, now with those two a no-no, the scapegoat is once again Gays. The biggest 'blame game' in the world has played out in front of our eyes for generations, and the Church has had a large hand in it. Jews, Blacks, Pagans, Gays, Women, all have been vicitmized...the question is...why hasn't our society opened its eyes!?
