What if everything you thought you knew about your family turns out to be a lie?
Penelope Livingston has had an ache in her heart for twenty five years -- ever since that traumatic day she gave her baby up for adoption. Now, she's trying to locate her daughter. Research uncovers a young woman named Claire who seems to be a perfect match. The two women believe it is Fate that they found each other, and they begin to forge a happy friendship.
Unfortunately, only the baby's father, Larry O'Neill knows the truth -- that he never allowed his daughter to be given up for adoption. He raised the baby himself, with the help of his babysitter, Sally, who quickly became his wife.
Now, how does he keep Penelope off his daughter Melody's trail, so that he can keep his family in tact and himself out of jail?

Johnny, crack me up. The good thing is there's tons of literature out there for all our phases.

Hmm. Seems to be a decent book. I probably won't end up checking it out, though--I'm in a 'wierd' phase of literature at the moment (I blame Cohen), and have been craving oddities rather than stories.

I love emotional stories too!
Waiting for payday so I can order the book

Evening Star, thanks for the note -- it's Laurie, the author of Legacy of Lies. I tend to write with a lot of emotion. I love laughing out loud and grabbing the Kleenex for tears!!

Bristol, hi, it's Laurie, the author. Sounds like a horrible experience your mom's friend went through. Thanks so much for sharing that story. I hope she'll be interested in reading something similar -- especially because it has a happy ending! The book will be available in November from Whiskey Creek Press!

This looks like a book with lots of emotion.

This sounds like something my friend's mom went through when she found out (at the age of 47) that she was adopted, and it turned out that her father had had her mother commited to a mental institution and given the baby up without her permission. She spent all those years looking for her baby.
I have to tell her about this book. It isn't exactly the same, but I bet she will want to read it.
