Creative Code of Chivalry

Symbolism is good for only two things: being a symbol and an ism
A wonderful Satire~ Parody to what writing is all about
_

Creative Reed to Writing- chivalry style I suppose

1. Do not question your legitimacy- it only shows weakness

2.Write what everybody else deems "great work"

3.Depth is for those that know how to swim in the big kids' pool

4.Symbolism is good for only two things: being a symbol and an ism

5.Expanding your writing subject matter is strictly forbidden, write within the fence. It's safer that way

6.Writers should never mention the great tragedies of their time and locality. Nor should they write anything tangible for argument's sake

7.Remember, creative is only as creative if someone else did it first

8.Angles are sharp edges meant to stop us from writing on the "smart table"

9.Just because another writer rode off on a high horse and brought justice to the world doesn't make you any closer to being "sailor moon"

10.Write about lots of death- except originality, creativity, justice, freedom of speech death. Leave those eulogies to the tabloids

11.Never question your gods of writing either. They'll punish you with writer's block- by blocking site access

12.Trying' is for suckers. You can be just as successful as those big-time poets like Bukowski or Poe--but without the effort. After all, poetry is just words, so just pull something out of your ass that almost makes sense to you, and you're good to go!

13. irony is for those that need a tonic

There you go my children. Toil away repeatedly and make sure those monkeys on typewriters use spell check someday
just what I've noticed about the depth of some writes posted here. Thought I could write a good satire|parody

and I know someone will say something about the sailor moon

thanks to blackknight for the suggestion #12

~ And irony is for those who need a tonic…

I’m not sure you should urge those kids into the deep end before they can swim though… there seem to be a plethora of arms wildly flaying about in there already… Okay – I’ll just go off to the beach for a swim.

All points taken. The worst thing would-be writers can have is a herd mentality, which is why most of the stuff on the Internet is crap, reflecting as it does the common man's uncut ideas. I remember in my teen years I read a lot of science-fiction. I was told then that I needed to "broaden my horizons" and become a bit more "mainstream". Now all the stuff I read then (1960's) is coming out in movies now, and the mindless little hordes are sucking it all down like flushed toilets. You have to learn to outwait the herd's attention span and you can't give a damn about their prejudices, which are almost always theirs by osmosis. To them real thinking is like a sentence to hard labor.

Well-crafted and witty. An excellent insight into the sensitivities of poets on this site in general, and in many cases of some individuals I can think of in particular. The saddest thing about world-wide-web creativity is that so often it is an oxymoron. There is a deliberate movement to follow what the norm suggests is "great," and not to question its merits. Oh well, nothing I say or do will ever change that -- after all, we have the success of television to use as a template. Anyway, nicely done Kryspin

Well even in Sailor Moon they promote promiscuity... you'd think they'd be exploiting all the Neptunes and Uranuses but no the focus is on other weird irrelevant shit...

I have no idea what I just said.. but I at least tried.
