    Yeats! Hurrah! All time favourite poet! Other amazing works: Song of the Wandering Aengus, Mother of God, The Cold Heaven, Leda and the Swan and No Second Troy. What a genius.

    Old Poetry Team: I have typed out the entire 'Calvary' play. It's one of the Four Plays for Dancers, and my personal favourite work by Yeats. I was just wondering if I could submit it, or send it to you guys... Thanks.

    Love the fact that Yeats was a contempary of Sean O' Casey who wrote The Shadow of a Gunman, which happens to be my set text for my drama exam which is today! 3 days before his birthday! lol. So I have actually heard of the playboy of the western world! lol. Tis about it. Guess I should check out some of his work eh?.

    Yeat's is a fantastic poet, not to mention a fantastic representative for irish theater and literary art. He shined in the war with some of his pieces (compared to the overwhelming amount of trash written in the time, see baldricks 'The German Guns') and only continued to improve. Undoubtably one of the best British poets in the last century.

    I almost LOL when I saw the title, wishing a happy birthday to a dead person This is a great effort to introduce his poetry to people who may not be aware of this old poet.

    I appreciate the effort and hard work you put into this.

    I love William Butler Yeats. I studied his work at high school, and my favourite was He Wishes For The Cloths Of Heaven. Such a wonderful piece it is... His birthday is two days after mine. I'll be sure to remember him on Monday. He Wishes For The Cloths Of Heaven brings back warm memories for me. I used to read it to distract myself from what was going on in my life at the time. Thank you for reminding me of that feeling again.

    Happy Birthday!! I love Yeats!! And apperantly, I'm the only one.. :-( However, I'm surprised that one of his greatest works isn't up here. So, I'll put it up, because I love Yeats.. and this poem..
    "He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven"
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet;
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

    Thanks Oldpoetry Team for honoring this great poet. Even though it appears I'm the only one who truly thinks he's great...

    Oh my bad, there is one other person.. sorry I didn't see your comment..
