Loving children is easy. How can it not be? They trust you completely. They love
you completely. No demands, no conditions. They have literally loved you from birth. It’s
what we as parents do that determines if they will still love us when they grow up. I know
from experience. My parents have done everything possible to ensure that I don’t love
them. Still though there is some little part of me that loves them. What is that? What
makes a child love their parent even though they have not done anything to foster that
love. Is it Gods way of trying to teach us that love, Gods love is unconditional that no
matter what we do to him, ourselves or others that he will still love us? That he is still
there waiting arms wide open for us to come to him and let him love us and teach us. I
think that is why we have children. They teach us about Gods love. They teach us to give
up self. To put someone else’s happiness and well being before our own. Loving and
caring for a child, I believe, is one of the most perfect ways to honor God. When we love
and care for our children. We are learning to be better children of God. We are
reminded, if we pay attention, every day through the lessons we try to teach our young
what God is trying to teach us.
Now some will say; not all children are good and that even when the parents do
everything they are supposed to and raised the child with good Christian values and
morals in a steady home and safe life there are still children who just turn out bad. I say
that is another lesson. After all, God has given us everything we need to be upstanding
good Christians and live as he has taught yet. Even still aren’t some of us just going to
rebuke everything he has tried to teach us? Don’t we too rebel against him and his love?
These are the lessons that he is teaching us everyday. If we are open and mindful we will
take them to heart and try to learn from them. Every day is an opportunity to grow and
learn; especially when you are a parent charged with the awesome responsibility of
bringing up an upstanding God fearing productive member of society. So parents I
challenge you to look at your children and think of the lessons God is trying to teach you.
This is my first column written by me. All of my previous columns were articles I wanted posted. I hope you will find this informational and of use.

The double think required to hold onto "christian values" is astonishing. On the one hand "Gods love is unconditional that no matter what we do to him, ourselves or others that he will still love us"
On the other hand
"when you are a parent charged with the awesome responsibility of bringing up an upstanding God fearing productive member of society."
why in God's name (pun intended) would FEARING unconditional love be a virtue?
With that said... your parents have obviously succeeded if their only duty is instill a fear of God in their kids. -
Great job i love kids and this is so true

You bring up some very important questions. There is a lot to be understood from all religions, not just Christianity... Finding God in many directions and pathways, and I think this piece asks us to find those and seek answers...

This is very well written.....I only hope that people will look at GOD fearing as GOD loving....there is no reason to fear GOD..I tend to have my own point of Views on GOD, but I do love to know that people keep him in their heart.
Nice piece of work! -
Nice work
Yes very true....... nothing better than the sweet innocent love of a child. My daughters love me that way and somehow I never feel worthy of it. They have always loved me even when I was not all that loveable. I also had a Mom who did everything to make me not love her but deep down inside I do though we have little relationship. Nice article! -
I've always liked kids. I work with the kids at our church (nursery and otherwise), and I love them to death. They're cute and way fun.
