People and the way the world works is strange, how a waster who has never worked a day in their life will win the lottery and then how a deserving person who has struggled all their life to make ends meat will continue to struggle.
Then you have people like the wannabe fashionista who is upset because the new designer handbag is sold out and she'll have to wait *gasp* six MONTHS on the waiting list, it irritates me because people like this seem almost blind to some of the issues that are going on in the world, the tsunami disaster, the aids epidemic in Africa, child labour and pains me to think that bag which will cost hundreds was probably made by a child in somewhere like China for a pittance.
You also have the middle-aged bored housewife bragging and trying to out do her friends in the never ending competition of who does the most charity work, NOT because she genuinely likes helping people, it's just another thing on her list to do better than her friends along with being a member of the PTA, of course, well at leaste it's something but WHY brag.
Oh and not to forget the businessman so concerned with getting that all important contract he would sell his own mother, so forget about him giving to charity because it ain't gonna happen.
So next time your upset about something small and petty remember there's a lot more important things going on.Just me ranting on

Everything happens for a reason. This is coming from an atheist who has never seen a half-full glass in her life, but I really believe that.
Case in point - I was on the freeway with a couple of my friends and Riki, who was driving took a wrong turn. He got really upset, but I said, "calm down. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe we'll meet Jesus on this road or something," and we all laughed.
A little while later we came to a stop light and a homeless guy was sitting on the side of the road. Riki waved at him and he waved back. Then Riki said, "Okay, I just waved at that guy. We have to give him money now."
We each coughed up a dollar and Riki rolled down the window. The man gratefully took the money and said, "God bless."
A little further down the road, I remembered what I had said about everything happening for a reason and I mentioned it to Riki. We laughed about it, but I could tell he was really thinking about it.
Why the hell did I just tell you that whole story? I should be writing a poem about it.
Somehow your rant has inspired me. Thank you! Now I'm off to write a new poem...
