  • If you've ever wondered how some people can seem so very at ease in society, or if you would like to be more at ease yourself in public, with strangers, in new social situations, please read on, and consider what I have to share with you, of my own experience & observation. No, I was not always the social butterfly, and I have once again sought the tranquility of a quiet life. But there have been times I was quite social, and ...
  • Are any of you all tired yet of the tension, the suspense, the "who will win in this big duke-out" between Queen Hillary and the Caliph Barack "Panorama" Obama? Is you just bout fer throwin' in the towel or voting for Neocon Ace in the Whole John McCain? Well, fret no mo', folks, cause I got cher back, yo. I'm the G who can B real, for real. Just write in my name, King John Tarik Black Jack Walker, for President.

As President, I will restore a monarchy that is authentic, not a fake monarchy like Bush, pretending he is for One Nation under Dog, with Liver and Just Us for Oil.

  • A friend from Malaysia posted recently, considering the difference between what helps her experience passion, and what is her speciality or greater area of skills and accomplishments:

    " i've learned that...
... it doesn’t matter so much that we never get the question answered.

As long as we look for it intermittently – the trick is in being on the edge of contentment.

As you can probably tell, I still don’t know what I’m passionate about, but I’m having fun on my way there "

    cafegroundzero responds with:

"It is acceptable to have time for passion, and time for excellence
Also, with any one person or thing, change is a possiblity.

Allow your self to embrace what is possible, as well as accept the limitations for the time being in the present moment.

Accepting limitations does not mean you always limit your self or actions or thoughts.

  • I would like to clarify and elaborate on both the art and the purpose of the poet in the world, the universe, the communitas. What do we write? Why do we write it? For whom do we write? Is there more than writing poetry? Can you not recite, sing, even dance and sing poetry?
  • Posted as a response to a young lady who asks how can she be unique so that she may with her difference be successful. Since you know there are many many poets out there, and the competition is hot hot hot! you want to have an edge, a sharp edge, and know how to use your blade to your advantage. Here I hope to inspire you, as a vessel of some Muses, I convey to you what They have shared and given to me, so you, dear Poet, dear Writer, dear Artist, can be the dream realized, not a dream deferred, shrivelled like raisins in the sun.
  • I, King John Blackjack "Tarik" Walker, of Chicago,
do hereby proclaim my total support
of "The Great Iron Wall" of the
United Caliphate of Amerika, sometimes known to idealists and illusionists as The United States of America, for whom or what it stood, maybe only G-d knows any more.
  • Commander-in-Chief, the President of the United States was first Roosevelt, then Truman.

Every military person knows that the top of the chain of command is the President, who is also the Commander-in-Chief.

    In Europe, Eisenhower.

In the Pacific among the Army, MacArthur.

For the Navy, I think it was Admiral Doolittle but am not sure.

    Marines, man, I forget.

  • Some of us … were arguing, in the Pub in the Adult Forum at the website Allpoetry.com/ starting with some one’s criticism of Hillary Clinton, I guess on the near and recent occasion of her winning the New Hampshire primary or caucus, I forget which one it is. And I called that person… a right winger, not really meaning to insult, but saying that their comment about stocking up on guns and ammo was their way of thinking. Which led my thinking to an admission of what are my politics, truly as I see them today.

  • To write great poetry, invariably you have to know at least some great poetry...if you look at great poets and learn about their lives, you will consistently see that they took the time to learn the great works of literature, music, and art which was established before them. I hope to make the case in favour of each serious or soulful poet to strive to learn from the great poets who have arrived before her or him to the halls of fame of poetry, song, and recitation.
  • Are we not just creating a monster by this addiction to fancy frou frou coffees? At what point will we come to our senses and say enough is enough?
  • Having started a series of essays on poetry, I got to thinking the other day, as I walked into Pets' Mart, why write poetry? Not wanting to assume everyone's reasons were the same, I decided to explore the reasons why we who write poetry versify, recite, and otherwise compose and set poetry in some semi-permanent form.
  • What is a poet? Who are the cutting edge and accomplished poets today? What defines poetry today as opposed to other times? How many poets are there in the world?
  • One thing that I have almost demanded in past critiques is the use of proper English punctuation. Lately I've been thinking much about this problem of whether or not to use the standard in punctuation that has been taught in English composition classes.

In keeping with my way here, I've decided to go ahead and post at least a paragraph on the topic, so that I can sooner hear from any of you who wish to weigh in on the conversation. I use the word conversation rather than debate, in seeking rather a consensus instead of debate, as I feel the community spirit is more conducive to growth as poets and as a poetical community.

So, do you use punctuation in your poetry? How do you choose what you use? Why?
  • There is a genocide happening in Darfur. I mean, there is slaughter going on at a scale too awesome to contemplate by means of the little monitor you probably stare at to read these words. War, massacres, rapes, things seldom spoken of in truth at our schools or workplaces in the West.

  • Still a work in progress. Time for lunch.
  • I like poems I can enjoy recited and sung, and which can be shared by a happy crowd of people. "Waltzing Mathilda" and "The Cremation of Sam McGee."
  • That the media is "one party" and "biased toward the Liberals" has been exposed for what it is, a blatant lie, a strategy designed to obfuscate the issues, to mislead the American and world public. This reverse psychology of sorts is one of the oldest tricks in the books, to accuse your enemies of what you yourself are engaging in.

Liberals have for too long kept silent to blatant lies and other insults intended to assassinate their collective character, to feed a hate intended to bolster Righ-wing designs and blind the public to the corruption and bloodless coup d'état effected by the so-called conservative factions of the Republican Party. It is way beyond the time for Liberals to shake off their torpor and fear, and get their game back, get their groove back, as it were.
  • christina rose, who in the fashion of the day, does not capitalize her name, has 2 hours ago posted on Yahoo's Questions and Answers:

Are there distinct differences between men and women? what are they??

innate differences, differences due to how they are socialized? (and i dont need to hear boys have penises and girls have vaginas... )
  • Ha ha! But I'm having fun with this, and decided to put it on before it's finished so some can see in almost "real time" how the rough draft and editing go. I was already editing the section on AJ Morelli into the rest, when I realized, from dialogue with Zahhar, that I'd forgotten to give him enough notice, so we didn't have his responses. For this I apologize: sorry, Zahhar, and sorry, my gentle audience. I'm hoping we'll be getting his i.m. responses so we can weave them into this "virtual inter-vue," which hopefully may be realized in phyical reality some day.
