  • I recall, a few years ago, seeing President George W. Bush standing on a battleship
in the Gulf wearing a flight jacket and announcing to the world and the parents of the soldiers that he would take good care of the disabled soldiers who served our country. That he would take “good care” of our disabled troops.

The following week, I received my usual shipment of medicine from the Veterans Administration along with a bill for over $340 for “co-pays”. Before Bush came into office I received my medicines free because I am a service connected disabled veteran just like the troops Bush was referring to in his famous “Battleship” speech.

It appeared that his administration was working on changing The Veteran’s Administration’s policies on medical care for Veterans as he was giving his speech.

The US government is now confiscating part of my Veteran’s disability pension every month to pay for the medicines that I always used to get for free.

I now buy my generic medicines from Walmart for less than half of what the Veteran Administration charges me. I hear stories they are also putting time limits on the medical care for Veterans with severe lifetime war injuries.

    I for one am ashamed.

Maybe some of that bailout money, that the greedy bank CEOs are already using to fill their own pockets with, should have been better used for medical care for our disabled Vets.
