  • This is just a quick tutorial on how to create Anime or Manga faces. The basics, in only four or five steps you should have the start of a recognizable cartoon face.

We start much the same as the Marvel or Super hero way only more defined and angular. When drawing Marvel cartoons or life like pictures you would start with an inverted egg shape but to make this easier to draw with a mouse in a paint program Anime allows for sharper angles.

For any Anime or Manga cartoon the eyes nose and mouth are the keys they are always exaggerated ether to big or to small the right mix and your cartoon can smile, cry or scream in anger. Tip get one eye perfect then copy and paste to get the second eye remember to mirror the image....

Sometimes its the little things that tell the story, the addition of a little blue in the corner of the eye and in the tear drops adds to the sad look experiment with eye, nose and mouth shapes.

Hair can make the man or in this case the boy and to add to the anger a splash of red on the cheek half the hardness and the opaque features and up size the brush and dab. I hope this has inspired you the reader to put pencil to paper or cursor to paint program and see what you can come up with. Happy Cartooning
