You will notice after a few days that there is a message at the top of your page saying, "'Someone' has commented on your poem, please return the favor."
All Poetry is an interactive poetry site, which means reading other peoples poems and in turn they reading yours. A lot of new poets sometimes feel left high and dry if they do not have people read their poems.
Read other peoples works and they will return the favour. Some may take longer to respond, where some may not read your work at all. But you will get some who will.
Another way of getting your poems read is by promoting it in either the 'shameless' box or in the 'featured' box.
Shameless box - You'll notice under the chatterbox area there is a link 'promote' If you click on that then it will take you to the shameless area. It costs 20 points to promote your poem there, which will be cheaper than the featured box.
Featured box - This is where you are able to post your poems where everyone can see them, The more points you use the better chance you have of others seeing and reading and hopefully commenting. You promote your work here by using points you have collected.
How to collect points:
You can buy them if you want the easy way out, by going to the 'store' tab, and buying them there, along with memberships and our journal's.
Reading and critiquing poems is another way, depending on the legnth of comments depends on how many points will be made. The longer the better. Entering contests too also helps mount the points up IF you win that is, but try and try and you'll soon be sure to win some. Contests can be found under the 'contest' tab at the top of the page.
Please do not promote in the chatter box though because once you have been warned and do it again, points will be deducted from you.
How to promote your poems:
If you open the poem that you want you'll notice at the bottom of the page you'll have,
Promote this Poem, spend total (you have 0), and per Click.
(7 is current min to show)
Depending on how many points you want to use or have to use depends on how many people will get to see the poems. For instance if you have 21 points and the current number (in this case is 7) Put your 21 points in the first box, and then 7 in the other box, this means 7 goes into 21, 3 times so you'll have 3 people read your poem. But the number may fluctuate from time to time, so keep an eye on things. You can also promote friends poems by doing this too. .

I remember when first coming to AP after being introduced here by the EX who wasn't very good at explaining details of how it all worked to me and me, basically computer-illiterate. well, I post my first poem, the best "love" poem ever I had written years before of the EX, which went ignored for at least two weeks on AP but for the EX's comment which went something to the effect of "good poem. have I read this before?"
then I go to comment on poems, but I didn't realize you had to comment on the post of the poem to get any points. I'd mark down the writer's AP name, the title of their poem on a notepad with comments I wanted to make, and then leave these comments to them in messages. some person I had posted such a poem message to then showed me how it should be done.
well, then I start collecting points, a little over a hundred of them, but still have the EX's best interest at heart. I'm amazed and intrigued by the feature box...I'm figuring this has to be how it feels being a Hollywood star with your name in blazing lights on the theatre marquee...so I endeavor to feature up one of the EX's poems. It gets it posted to the feature list right away...right on top of the list too. Stays up there for all of one second. Seems what I didn't understand was total points and points-per-hit when featuring up poems. I just put in point total/point total in both boxes, so it seems I put in a bid of 100 points total at 100 points a click. EX didn't say anything...He's figuring I'll keep out of his AP way and go work on poem comments building up feature points again...and I did, but I learned the feature box, learned to feature my own poems and the EX was dumped.
Believe it or not, I have not embellished this story in the least...and I only wish I had come to this post earlier on in my first few AP weeks.

Thank you but I have a few questions. First one is, is this where I would post questions? Second is, what is the "what is your verdict?" box for, and what different stuff should I put in there. Thridly, I have typed several things, a few being spur of the moment poems :(, and they have never shown up. What happens to these is there something that I did to cause it and is there soemthing that I can do to stop it.
I say that because when filling out my author page upon registering for this site I added too much into a field that was only supposed to have numbers, I typed a sentence. I think that that may have been something that made something go haywire. If not please let me know. Another thing is I was searching for all Spiritual poems and got only poems dealing with Darkness.......
Is this where I would post ALL of my questions becuz if not I will stop. Someone pleazs im me to help me out. THANKS ^_^ -
Ok I'm a little slow...... It'll take me a little longer to figure it all out, I'm glad you have the information I need here!
Thanks,

Good notice for the new poets... I think with things like this, we as greeters, are getting a lot of info to the new poets and anyone else who's interested.
Hey.. we're good, aren't we

I'm sure this will be very helpful to any new members of the site. There are a few errors 'too,' in the first line of the second paragraph should be 'to.' Just minor little things though. But I thought you might appreciate knowing.
Great job on this
