The Modesty Survey - LADIES, PLEASE READ

For every lady out there...

http://www.therebelution.com/modestysurvey/

http://www.therebelution.com/modestysurvey/browse (click on a category and then click on a statement; you can see what guys have said in regards to that topic)

THE PETITION:

As a Christian guy with a deep appreciation for feminine modesty, I hereby affirm and commend the following biblical truths to my sisters in Christ:

* Please, approach the survey as a resource, not a list of rules.
* Always honor your parents above the results of the survey. (Ephesians 6:1-3)
* Seek personal feedback on your attire from the godly men and women in your life.
* Remember, modesty is first and foremost a matter of the heart, not the wardrobe.
* Faithfully pursue the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. (1 Peter 3:4)
* Let your good works outshine your outward appearance. (1 Timothy 2:10)
* Dress for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

And I, Christopher Michael Crane, have signed this "petition" on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, because I believe that ladies have more worth than they recognize and are more beautiful than they give themselves credit for.

I did find this interesting and I did click on the different statements to see what the fellows thoughts were but I gotta say that my only complaint with the overall view of society is that what we find acceptable should be across the board i.e.: A woman's breasts are seen as a sexual thing and not just a body part so we are not allowed to go topless but men are allowed to go topless and subject the rest of us to their man-titties (if they have them). It is more socially acceptable for men to be overweight and to have poor hygiene but oh man if a woman is over weight it is splashed all acorss magazine covers and news headlines!! I guess what I am saying is what is good for the goose should be good for the gander. And I am willing to sign a petition that stops men from over exposing their bodies so that society will be equalized! Like I said Chris.....I did indeed find their thoughts on each subject or "question" interesting and do plan on visiting the website again to read more but I want a female version!! Thank you for sharing this

Please know that in expressing my opinion, I'm not criticising you and I believe you're entitled to your own values.

However, I agree that modesty is a virtue, but I actually found this site degrading to women. There is no equivilent Christian value that men should have to cover up their bodies. It's sexist. I don't think wearing a bikini at the beach (or a tankini with board shorts!) makes a woman immodest. Is there some similar value saying that it's "a stumbling block" for men to wear board shorts or speedos swimming? I think I dress less provocatively than the majority of women, and I'm happy to wear a bikini at the beach as long as it's not more revealing than my underwear.

Please let me explain. This site IS NOT sexist. And it's not saying that "bikini at the beach makes a woman immodest". If you read the directions, you would have understood it more clearly. The statements made were so that you can click on them and in turn, see how what guys had to say about that statement. It's meant to be a reference and a way for guys and girls to dialogue about this topic.

Yes, I did understand that, I just saw that the vast vast majority of the comments on the bikini topic were very critical of women who wear bikinis, and so were a lot of those on some other topics, some of which I found ridiculous (such as saying wearing a mini skirt over jeans is provocative???)

But yes, I am aware that it's not stating that all Christian men believe those things.
