Head Chambers of
Madamme Psynm the Wicked
Located on the eighth floor
of the central turret.

~~~~~
The room that you enter is lined entirely with carved ebony, black, gold-veined marble floor and tarred ceiling adding to the effect. Dark wood furniture furnishes the room, many doors inset in the ebony invisible to the unwatching eye. This room only has a long, intricately carved writing desk equipped with every item a scribe would desire, and a tall, Gothic-carved chair lined with red velvet. The room overall has a Gothic-era feel, and it leaves people wondering what the other four rooms contain. A tapestry carpet in reds, blacks and golds protects the marble from table legs, extending forward so the battle scene is visible. A chandelier decorated with black stones - indestinguishable, so raised is the roof - adorns the beautiful ceiling, creating an powerful though ambient light on its own. Small arch windows allow some light in, and the wall behind the desk is lathered in books of all sizes and ages. Rumours about what powers or potential powers those books contain were vicious; seldom few dared underestimate Madame Psynm.
Rowan knocked, and the door opened. She entered in, and observed her surroundings as she waited for Madame Psynm.
ObscureInsanity-
a knock echoes clearly througout the room, causing the mysterious woman to pause in her work. She sits in her chair, organising this day the weekly cost for the castle. After a moments silence, Psynm finally responds;
You may enter.
I was already present, insolent one. For what purpose do you pester me, and be consise about it.
Evenstar-
Rowan ignored the insult silently.
"Members of the clan were told to see you, directly, about their charges. I am new,and wish to know what i can do to help. Your advice maybe, would be my goal for coming here, and the knowledge on who will be my challenge. My steps are uneven here, and your help would be appreciated greatly"
She stood straight,a mistake would not be wise at this stage.
ObscureInsanity-
Psynm regarded the fire spirit with an unreadable expression, cold diamond eyes glinting with unportrayed thoughts. For an instant, Rowan might have seen a sliver of a smile play upon half of her lips, but it did not remain.
You are indeed well worthy of the time. Pysnm paused, a clear smile passing the lips this time; Why not be seated?
Psynm pauses, waiting for Rowan to respond, but continues in the silence.
You have a charge, of course. Remus Cultfin. He is located in the village of Norse, just south from here. A breif hesitation... You will not require a horse. Another pause.
I will admit to you now, and never again, that I greatly admire your spirit. You have great strength. It always pleases me to see one of your standing craving my assistance... a further incentive to be me...
my only adivce is -
Do not turn your back to him.
We have chose Remus due to his incessant trespasses on his kingdom and fellow men. He is contstantly cheating the townsfolk with his ridiculous prices and cunning scams. He would make a fine member of the Empty Ones, if you feel you are up to that challenge. As you are new here, I will shed further light on the situation... aach of my warriors is expected to return one sacrifice before the Day of Harvest. You are permitted to take from them any amount up to half for yourself. The only additional draining is to capture the soul, or to kill.
The challenge in this task is this; you may only use your fire to trap him, and he must not be killed.
Return the tretcherous one to me and reap the reward.
Psynm gazed at the one before her a further moment, hands resting upon each other, shoulders back, as always unreadable. She spoke no further, glancing pointedly from Rowan to the door before returning her attention to the scrolls before her, allowing her medium length black hair to fall over her face.
Only after she left did Rowan realise that she had spoken only to Psynms eyes, knowing nothing of the face, though she had witnessed it.
Reply, Edit, X Rowan stood before Psynm, listening and taking it all in. She sat only briefly when asked to, appreciating the compliment softly. She understood such compliments were rare coming from a lady such as this, and did not say anything,knowing that thanking her would most likely sound foolish.
Her charge, Remus Cultfin,located in the village of Norse,south from this place. An interesting choice, and a right one.
Rowan stood again, and inclined her head slightly. With what may have been a small,but unnoticeable smile, she said "I look forward to the challenge."
as she said this she knew it to be true. This challenge, she relished, and would do her utmost best to complete all of it.
She saw that Psynm was now back to her scrolls, and knew this to be her dismissal.
"Thankyou" she said gently, and exited out the doors. She realized suddenly that none of this had actually been spoken aloud, but all the same, she did experience it.
'Most interesting' she thought to herself as she walked out.
Aerden-
William exited the Hall of Maleficus, went to the central tower of the castle, and began climbing the stairs which wound around the turret. On the seventh flight, he halted at the landing. William gave a brisk knock on the ornately-carved door to Madame Psynm's chambers and waited.
Reply, Edit, X Madame Psynm le Wickyd calls William forth
into her domain.
Aerden-
William heard Kanya coming up the stairs and gave her a brief wave before he he heard Psynm call his name. He turned the knob of Psynm's door and entered. As always, his attention was first drawn to the impressive bookcase behind her desk. Had Psynm been anyone else, he would have first noticed her, but some manner of magic always seemed to shroud Psynm in shadow.
Ultimately, though, that induced him to pay greater attention, as her shadowedness was out of the ordinary. He shut the door behind him and inclined his head to her, standing straight and still, yet relaxed.
"I wasn't certain if you would need to see me or not," William said. "Your charge to me was pretty clear."
ObscureInsanity-
Of course it was, came a balanced reply. Do sit.
Your charge, as you know it, is to gather five volunteers for our - a grin flickered across the unfocussable face cult, some might call it. This is an especially difficult challenge. I'm sure you can see why?
Psynm leant back a fraction, surveying William with cold yet unreadable eyes.
You are wise and crafty. That is why I like you. The only catch is you must ensure they are willing to come, and are unAffected and unharmed when they get here.
I shall consider it acceptable if only four return with you, but do not bother returning with less.
There is good reason for every challenge. They are beneficial to all who inhabit these halls.
Do not let us down, William. Any enquieries you have, ask. If not, gather neccessary items from our stores and be gone.
Reply, Edit, X William nodded. "You want willing, intelligent, and committed members, not minions or slaves. That's why I in turn like working for you. A coalition whose members respect each other is to be preferred over one comprised of mostly sheep."
He leaned his head to one side. "I presume this Wanderer you mentioned is to be one of the five, if I can recruit it. Do you have particular others in mind? If so, who are they?"
ObscureInsanity-
You are clever.
Yes, William, he is among them. But there is a twist that I cannot forsee the outcome of, neither can Mistress Elizabeth. So if he is killed, lost or whatever else may - you may return with only the four.
Sheep are worthless to us but for sacrifice, and I need more men. Warriors, gender no matter to me. Any one will do, lost souls work the best, and those mopey teens. The younger ones work well, minds and well fit bodies for moulding.
If you indeed cannot return 5 willing recruits, bring me a sacrificial lamb. There can never be enough.
No more questions? Be gone from my sight, and do not return until your task is done.
As William opens the large wooden door, Psynm casually calls,
Kanya, you may enter.
ObscureInsanity-
Ah, yes, Kanya... take a seat...
Madamn Psynm surveys the delicate and beautiful form before her.
You are a soulful little warrior, are you not? she ventures. It has been some time since I have utilised you to your fullest potential.
Psynm produces a quiver of gleaming arrows, quilled in unnatural red feathers.
These are some of my own, handcrafted arrows. Worked, reinforced silver-steel, with blunt, poison-tipped heads. a smirk of self-satisfaction glides across a secretly beautiful face; it quickly falls and she extends the quiver to Kanya Little vampiress, use these wisely.
Your charge is to follow William and aid his journey of discovering the Wanderer. You must also, as always, recruit three new members for our group. I do not mind if you gather sheep, but you must obtain one willing victim for recruit.
I believe your charge is simple enough, and William has already left for town. I suggest you follow with haste - no problem for a nimble one such as yourself. Any questions will be answered, otherwise - I suppose you know what to do.
Psynm waits patiently without emotion for a response.
Reply, Edit, X A smile of grim satisfaction passes before vanishing like smoke. Madamme Pysnm shuffles through some parchments littering the handsome writing desk. Upon finding a particular one, Psynm skims through and returns her attention to Seena.
As she speaks, Psynm stands and begins to wander absently around the room.
Young vampyre, you are new to my ranks and so must prove yourself worthy of entry. D'Jour may see something in you, but she is... not my type. The Mistress and Myself have... alternative standards. Hence the requirement that you assure us of your devotion, honour and resourcefulness. Show us we need you.
I expect of you to do a thorough job... and considering the circumstances, I believe you have a befitting task of difficulty.
You must, in the day light, yes the sun - harvest twelve souls for the gathering. You may not drink from them without permission. Your presence must not be known - we are testing your stealth, endurance, and abilities.
You are also to select a thirteenth victim, and -
There is a pause as Psynm gazes down at you from alongside her desk. Seena has the distinct impression that an eyebrow is raised, and an unreadable look fleetingly passes.
recruit.
Psynm glides back to her chair, sitting gracefully and pressing her hands together, leaning back to look over her fingertips at Seena.
If you are unsure of the proceedure, review the above information. It will tell you all you need to know about gathering.
These souls must be ready by The Harvest. The date of the Harvest is set by the full moon - the Harvest moon, no less. There is not a great deal of time.
If you have no queries, depart now. You ought to know by now where the stores are. If not, they are on the third floor, farbeit for me to be informing you. If you have any questions, speak them now, before your departure.
Reply, Edit, X "You may not have had much experience with me and i may be new to your ranks, but i will prove myself worthy. I have absolutely no doubt that i can do this. But i do have just one question." *I pause* "Recruit? You mean leave immediately after gathering the 13 victim?"
Reply, Edit, X Psynm chuckles softly in her beautiful leather chair, before raising a wicked eye to Seena.
Oh I know you will not fail. Terrible consequences befall inadequet soldiers.
She leans forward, eyes boring into those of the female before her.
I do not permit my Elite Expedtion Troups to fail me.
Sitting back she continues.
You may recruit whence you find a suitable person. There are places you can keep your victims, drugged or unconcious if required, littered among the forests surrounding all nearby towns, specially marked and concealed caves. They are free for your use. Considering the immensity of your task, I suggest you utilise them.
A recruit might be useful before you begin your work, even. Or, a hindrance. It is for you to decide how you approach your quest.
Psymn studies Seena a moment longer before donning a beautifully dark pair of lenses and reads through another of the parchments.
Send Everick in on your way out, won't you. Oh, teacher-like, she looks over her spectacles at Seena, pulling them down her nose slighly; anything else? Wouldn't want any problems to befall you on your first Journey.
Reply, Edit, X Everik stands nervously, stiffens, and marches into Psynms office. He returns sometime later with a small grin and confident stance. Reply, Edit, X A slender young women of 18 walked to Psymn's. She was dressed in jeans and a purple tank top. She was blonde and her eyes were a sharp watery blue. Phoebe Nesahn was a very smart young lady,and stubborn,mischevious,and the most frank. Her family she had run away from,and she had hidden inside this abode. She was clever that way. her older brother had taught her to block her mind and hide her presence. It was this way she heard of Madam Psymn,where her office was,and most of all,what she was. Donning her spell of invisibility,she stole into the office of Psymn as Kira went inside.
As soon as Kira had left, Psynm spoke, without looking up.
"Consider yourself the devious one, don't you. I dislike that in anyone, let alone a mortal." She looked up, face obscured, staring straight at the invisible Phoebe. "You'd best speak quickly, young fool, your time is short."
Reply, Edit, X She put the invisibility spell away,and spoke, green eyes crystal clear. "Actually I don't consider myself such. Others just consider me sneaky." she paused momentarily. "as for time, I plan on it being short" she had to admit to herself that Psymn was way more intimidating than she thought she'd be. But she swallowed any fear and spoke up. "I may be a little sneaky,but I am loyal and quick learning. My family spoke of getting rid of me yesterday,so I went away. For them I was too much trouble" she swallowed,but brushed that memory away. "and I've heard about you. So much.I want to be yours,and made like you.. If you consider me foolish for wanting that,then yes,maybe you are right,and you may do with my life as you wish. There is nothing left for me in the human world. I almost despise them,even though i am one of them. Even animals can be more kind than their ignorance." she paused. "but forgive me..I ramble" she looked down briefly,then sharply up again. "Oh,my name is Phoebe Nesahn." she said,her voice decresending quietly as she switched from foot to foot,then stood still underneath Psymns scrutinizing stare.
Psynm watched her squirm, amused, and took more moments before speaking.
"I know who you are." She said, pausing again for some time.
"You seek to become like us..." she toyed with the thought, wondering. "I'll admit I'm impressed. Never has a mortal come uninvited to these premisis. Sure enough, the guards will be punished... and you have magickal knowledge, always useful..."
She considered her more powerfully, finally making a decision.
"There are others waiting to see me. You, however, will stay in the corner, hidden. I wish to judge your assessment of others. Hide, and please, open the door."
Once it was open, she called for the next person.
John Thorne
::John was told rumors of this woman. He'd only hoped her powers were not over-stated. His brown hair waved slightly from side to side as he approached the door. Green eyes examined it for a moment, then looked away. He wasn't sure if he should waste his time here. While it was rumored she was a powerful mistress, what ever made him think SHE would waste her time with HIM? Then again, he didn't have much left to lose. His mother had already been killed. His sister was already taken by a clan of vampires he couldn't help but percieve as evil. The woman he once loved was already...but now was not the time for thinking of such horrid things. The fact that the three most important women in his life were all taken from him--however it happened--was not what he was here for. Though that was a contributing factor. Justice was a wonderful motivator. Then again so was vengance. And lately he'd had a hard time distinguishing between the two. A solid, hard knock. Just one. No more. If she was there, she'd have heard it. Then after wiping his hand nervously on his blue jeans, he took a deep breath, letting the green shirt inflate over his chest before exhaling and waiting for a response. He couldn't ignore the possibility that it may have been here that his five-year long search for his dead fiance's killer may finally come to an end. But again, that wasn't why he came to this woman::
Reply, Edit, X The single rap on the door alerted Psynm to an unidentifyable presence outside her door. Had she been less engrossed in her work, she would have noticed before he even reached her stairwell. Still, it was now obvious a male human cautiously seeked her guidance...
With a nod, the door swung open.
John felt invited into the room, though Psynm le Wickyd uttered no sound. He, like many others, could not look at her face... a peculiar curse of the enchanting mistress was that her physical form was literally shrouded in mystery: no one could recall her features, despite the vague recollection of having done so avidly.
Psynm raised a slender arm to the chair before her desk, curious as to what he observed when he entered the room*. She chose to stay silent, as opposed to her usually intimidating air on which she prided herself. The only memorable feature were her piercing eyes, deep emerald with crystal-like flecks.... boring even now into John's mind...
Reply, Edit, X ::The door had swung open, and she...was still at the desk? Hmm. A parlor trick, nothing more. He'd seen many others like it. Though he wasn't sure HOW she did it, he only stepped into the room and shut the door behind him. She hadn't said one word. She only gestured to the chair. He stood for a moment, studing what he could of her, any movement, any sound from her lips, anything. But she gave nothing away but silence. So she wanted to play the quiet game? Hmm. Fine. He gave her a nod and slowly made his way accross the black marble floor. His steps were silent. No footfalls could be heard. With no more than a smirk as he looked to her upon reaching the chair. His small way of bantering back for the little door trick. A human who could traverse a room that surely would have had an echo, without making any noise at all. Then, he would sit. There was no rustling of fabric there. Only more silence. He could feel her eyes lock onto him before he even raised his to meet them. And then, he didn't say a word. He just stared right back at her, giving her the very treatment she was trying to dish out. She had power, yes. Many other humans, upon feeling that pressure upon their chest may have turned back. But no. His observations? How could he observe anything but her? They were locked onto each other the moment he knocked on that door and he knew it. He had expected some sort of test from her, to see what he was capable of, to see if she'd be wasting her time. If this was it, then...well, perhaps it wasn't. Intimidation wouldn't work on him. He'd fought demons, vampires, the undead, slayers, thieves, slave owners, and professional fighters, even his own father at one point. He'd outsmarted crime bosses, the police, and private investigators, even bounty hunters. But none of that mattered here. All that meant was that he'd had more experience than some. But he wasn't sure how much that experience would help him. How can you outsmart someone if they can read your thoughts? How can you fight someone while they know your next move? She may not have been probing his mind, but with that stare in her eyes, he wouldn't be surprised if she were. He took a deep breath, and would sit there in wait of her first question of him::
Reply, Edit, X Phoebe Nesahn watched curiosly from her corner of invisibilty as the other human (besides herself) walked in. She wondered if Psymn wanted her to watch this. It was probable that she did,so she stayed in the room.
She smiled an invisible smile as she saw Psymn's eyes bore into his as they'd once done to her. 'Share the love...' she idly thought to herself, 'spread the uncomfortableness around...'
She watched.
