Now is the time for all good men....

I have just received an email from a news station in a city I used to live in. One of the principal reasons I left is indicated in the subject line of the email: "Polls are now open in the primary election."

I emailed them back a furious reply, they have no idea I left the city and can't vote there anymore, but I emailed anyway. In short I said "YOU are to blame for the bad choices we have to make every November" I have not received ONE email about candidates, no web links to voting records, no history of incumbent choices or performance, no challenger information, NOTHING.

It's not their job to tell me who is running and who the challengers are, it's my job to become informed BEFORE the primary. I understand that...but still, they are more able and more protected given they belong to the news media, so I would expect at least a list of names when candidates file...it's the least that they could do right? No, the least that they could do is cry "the polls are open, go play with the little buttons!!" expecting that something new and wonderful is going to happen to their city when herds of uninformed voters walk up to the ballot boxes.

This kind of filth is why we are stuck making choices between the richer of two evils every stinking November in the final elections.

FIND OUT who the candidates are, and who exactly it is that's been aggravating the mess out of you for the last two years BEFORE the election cycle starts, and vote their asses OUT in the primary election. It's the easiest time to do it, and the right thing to do.
