This thought of mine started as a tiny inkling, now its huge, so huge that I can barely breath for the sheer volume of it.
Anyone who knows me, knows I love many many people,in-fact I love all of you, even those who do not want me to.Even those who think that love is a dirty word.Even those who think its a crock.
You don't have to love me back, that's not how it works, I love you regardless, unconditionally,it's the only way to love.
There are some poets on here, who I love with a vengeance, I would take a bullet for these people, and they in return would have my back.
Even if we can't talk, even if we inadvertently hurt or annoy each other, the connection remains.
Why? I have no idea, and I stopped searching for answers the day I realised that the way I feel for these people bled out of cyberland. These are real people, friends whom I love as much as my flesh friends, and the fact that we have never, and most probably will never meet matters not.Because the love is unconditional.
Add to this equation, my husband, not a poet, not a cyberland dweller, just your average guy. He offers hankies when the pain or emotion of these beloved friends makes me cry, and has been known to step in and comfort them too.
He reads messages which say I love you,, he witnesses me say I love you back, to men millions of miles away. Does he mind? no, because his love for me,,and for them is unconditional. He gets it too.
So my question is this. If we,, simple poets unloading baggage in cyberland, can reach across continents, using only the power of our computer keyboard, and our words,,to build bridges. To make connections, to support each other, and offer dignity respect friendship and loyalty. If we can paint rainbows on souls, and lighten the load a little.
Because we understand the worth of unconditional love
Imagine the impact on humanity,if our world leaders grasped the concept too.....?

Dear SK...You have penned just what I would like to say, beginning to end..The mystery of friendships on here cannot be explained, but there are some bonds that are made across continents and oceans...
It is so welcome that your husband understands! He does not feel threatened by your big heart! Some do feel threatened....You are like myself...At times a heart too big sometimes for our world, and to carry the load of needy loving souls that need us...
I sure appreciate your opening your heart to share, and I am comforted knowing now I have another one on AP that can know and understand that some of us just cannot stop being a loving person at least to most that cross our path...

you truly are a beautiful soul. i read over the comments before mine and ill say that each have a point, though some are a bit softer than others. i must agree with the idea that politicians represent juxtaposed peoples and ideas. however, i do believe that it is entirely possible for us, all of us, to come together as the human race, rather than chinese, european, american, and so on and so forth. what will make us all come together? the same thing that always causes people to come together. necessity.
until it is necessary, i do not think we will see any major shift in morals or ideas worldwide. there have always been activists and philosophers who see past the cultural boundaries each society imposes upon itself, and for now, we, here, may help fill this role. but until it is necessary, i do not think our leaders will begin to change. nor our societies.
however, as ever, change is on the horizon. perhaps, this time, it will be for the good of all mankind and unconditional love will, finally, be the forerunner of the game.
we love and we hope. blessed be.

This just needs to spread for that to happen
The Internet is just another step beyond the telegraph which followed the pony express and "snail" mail. All this communication is originated by real people expressing themselves. It is what motivates the content of the communication that matters.

Puzzle
I cannot make up my mind about cyberpeople. Friends and family have known me for years, so they know a great deal of history (too much, sometimes!). That cannot be so with cyberpeople, even if one kept at this for years: where is the eye-contact, the body-language, the tone of voice? Yet the cyberpeople are real; it is just a different thing, as chatting on the phone is different from writing a letter or card.
As for world leaders, they represent regions and peoples which have inherent conflicts of interest, and usually manage to keep things bumbling along. The interests of China, for example, are diametrically opposed to those of the US or Europe. The impoverished Chinese want to become less impoverished; but if they do, the West will become more impoverished. Perhaps people ought to say they don't mind reducing their standard of living drastically, so that the amount of food they had would be hugely cut, as well as the range of foods; or the white goods and holidays would have to go, the car for sure. I do not think people are bad for not agreeing to such things, but it does mean that their representatives have to - well, represent them.
I see your idea through a slightly different prism: we are all currently worrying about a big misfotune sweeping the world, as swine-flu. We are very good at identifying possible or probable bad things on our horizons. But it must be possible for there to be good things which sweep the world too. Music sometimes, at least in sections of the world, such as the West, Mid-East, China. And perhaps an idea...? -
It's too Utopian of a concept... all politician's and leaders of countries give a crap about is money and extending their power. Being writers, we are a naturally sensitively attuned, in order to be an artist, you have to be. But to be a politician, you have to be a different beast entirely. After serving two years in Washington D.C. while I was in the military, during which time I'd met Bill Clinton, Newt Gringrich, and several other politicians and foreign dignitaries, and they are all wired the same way... money money money. They don't see things the way we do, and that's the cold fact of the matter...
Beautiful idea, but unfortunately one that won't happen anytime soon. -
AMEN
