Teach me how to write a vignette.

Teach me how to write a vignette. Please? I've tried, and failed.
So, I'm really interested in learning how to write a vignette. I looked it up, and I just can't learn from that, so I need my fellow poets help. I don't even understand the definition of a vignette.

What I want, a fast-paced, yet a how-to on vignette writing.

What I don't want: an internet linking to a how-to on vignette writing.

You teach me

Thanks so much.

Josh

  • My version of vignettes is slightly different;

    its writing a poem in stanza's that could be totally un-related to the last stanza, but overall have the same theme.

    For example: http://allpoetry.com/poem/5327855

    Shall write more soon but ish trying to write your poem

    When I asked the same question to a (vignette) contest host they told me to do the following:

    Sit in a coffee-shop (or something similar) and pick three people that are interesting. Or, pick one person and look at them through three perspectives.

    Write "1, 2, 3" as headings - and then under each number describe one person (or perspective) very briefly, but fully, using emotional language (like poets generally do anyway).

    Then ask other people to critique and such

    You don't have to comment or anything - but this is the kind of thing that I end up writing: http://allpoetry.com/poem/5354239

    I hope this helps a little - just for a start
