That's Just The Way It Is

For those who are of my generation, you will recognize the title as being similiar to a line that Walter Cronkite always closed with and has a small edit to suit this prose.....
Preface: These are my opinions base on life experiences and those as related to me by friends & associates...

Fact: Men's appetites are driven by the senses, the major of these being a visual stimulant. This means that unless something is visually appealing they rarely, if at all, become aroused or take further interest in that person or object. In regards to this of a sexual nature, if the women is not sufficiently attractive, the draw quickly wanes and the male will move onto the next point of interest.
Fiction: It's all about who you are inside, that attracts a male.
Although this is important to most males, it is certainly not the sole determining factor. If the female is striking in a pleasing manner visually, it matters not that they may be as dumb as a box of rocks when the male moves into the next stage of approaching the female. Albeit a distinct possibility that he will prefer the lady have at least be of average intellect, having a low degree of such will not necessarily cause him to negate her as a possible mate.

Result: The lady that has had a "rough life" and shows it in the wear upon her body, will fall well outside the range of the male that is seeking someone for a "loving" relationship.

Summation: If you hope to meet and develop a "loving" relationship with someone after age 50...be sure to grow old gracefully in beauty, do not suffer any illnesses that effects your looks nor have any surgeries that scar you, do NOT lay wasted hope in being loved for who you are as a person only, as the visual appetite must be fed and will quickly leave you for another as it is a ravenous beast.

And that's JUST the way it is folks!

Note to those that may feel this is bashing:
Far from it as I have seen this occur to some degree in women as well. This prose is simply the gleaning of my recent list of observations seen in these past few decades of my life.
I grow weary of people that place so much importance on one's wealth of beauty, power or monetary status....it sickens me and gives me cause to tire of this life.
God knows I wish it were not so
