My letter to the editor:
Although I am quiet new to poetry, having only been writing poetry for seven years, I am extremely disappointed with your editorial. In a time when schools are cutting back cultural programs to focus on students who can survive enough schooling to enter society with service provider jobs we should be encouraging the arts not slamming them. Through poetry I have learned to appreciate the many levels of beauty around me and have experienced many emotional joys through the words of others.
The poets of old were the equivilent of todays rock stars and simular to the musicians of today had the skill to move Kings and nations.

The Quill
The quill's sensual touch
blinds the audience
to the words of the poet:
a magician's deliberate
misdirection.
Eyes take in
what he wants
while the soul absorbs
the rest;
speechless
but not sure why.

I hope that this editor comes by the site.. I know in California the teachers are finding a way to teach art in the schools.. Great come back.. -
What a stupid douche she is I see by the comments that not many agree with her...she's probably just bitter because no one has ever written a poem for her..its hard to rhyme with Douche though...LOL
