Quibble Notes: Writing Poetry

(SEE ORIGINAL QUBBLE NOTES)
Infrequent Remarks on THE ART OF POETRY as I Practice It. I speak for no one else but myself, the way I write poetry, my subjects, what inspires me, or special ways I think that might yield a poem. And none of this is Quibbling. If you find any of this helpful, surprise me, tell me.

Let's start with emotion.

What emotions most illicit poetry from me?   Probably sadness is the greatest one.   Then silliness that comes before sadness will take over.   The feeling, or sense, of love and joy in it.   Most of my love poems now come with lack of love I feel and are part of the sadness.   Therefore, recent love poems are an antithical response to lack of love. Go figure that one!   Empathy can bring about a poem when I see others who are hurt, suffer pain or lack of love.   At times, I've used poems for seduction. Some are loving poems, some are erotic.    Pain is the theme  in later poems, as this is the one thing I'm experiencing the most.    Other than these, emotions I sense, not so much feel, are deep gratitude for the life I've lived,    and spirituallity that seems to come from a core belief in God. It infuses early work, too, but predominates here in what can only be seen as a too early old age.
