Scattered Thoughts

Death is not to be feared and still we use extra precautions keep ourselves alive for as long as we can. We record a life expectancy as the average age we typically die at when it cannot be avoided any longer.

Until now, I did not fear death. I saw it as a natural function that everyone must experience. However, since we do not know what will become of us after death. Theories such as reincarnation have put many minds at ease: we will return to earth to live once again. But we cannot be sure. If we don't, then everything ends on your dying day. You will no longer see, think, feel, hear, or taste again. You will be burried in the dirt (or burned if you so choose) to settle with millions of others who have died. This earth is undoubtedly diluted with ashes and remains with which you will become a part of.

As for your soul...well who knows. Religiously there is a heaven and hell. But after death you are no longer "you", therefore any punishment brought upon you in Hell can not be felt nor can Heaven bring you happiness. Also, while living everything that exists only exists in your perspective so once you die, you cease exist...along with everything else you knew.

Even if reincarnation were true, you will die and be reborn with a clean slate. Everything you learned and all that experience you gathered will be erased. For some people this could draw a new opportunity, but while you don't remember anything from your previous life you do not know this. So every new opportunity is a repetative step to help time pass, and should time run out...well time will never stop regardless what any human being does to try. So what will have in a hundred, a thousand, maybe a million years? Predictions have been made, all of which scare society into thanking whatever upper power there is in their religion that they won't be around to find out.

But what does it matter now? Nothing can be done because we'll all be dead, right? And if we knew what our future outcome was, we would never actually live. Knowing how you're going to die would ruin living altogether. It's good to have preparation, but when it comes to ending your very being, you'll suffer less if you didn't know it was coming. And if you did know it was coming then you only prevented yourself from dying...this time. You can't live forever and one of these days, it will be your turn. All I can hope for is my death to come and go, let there be few mourners and even fewer tears shed. And let those around me enjoy what time they have left to live without me there, because I won't leave this earth with a frown unless I die by the hand of another. Should I befall such a circumstance, I believe that fate will bring my killer to justice after death.

For those who have done such wrong in their lives should fear death. Society has separated right from wrong in its own ways and to know whether a debt should be paid after death is unknown. What is unforgiveable? Surely taking another life falls under that category but what else? By the infamous bible we've learned what sins are not to be ignored. Lying, cheating, disrespect...most everything is forgiveable these days.

And what of animals? A human being is a species just the same as any animal in the zoo. Fortunately we've just got the brains and over time have overpopulated the earth with which we've take over. We've developed technology and have sustained a set of rules that are punishable if not followed. What if our roles were reversed? Say the species of felines ruled the earth. You would be their house pets...or maybe you'd be a stray to find your own way and possibly be hit by a car. Animals are so carelessly noticed, as if they don't matter. The human species is a greedy, ignorant species...so roadkill doesn't matter? They are left to die on the side of the road to be forgotten about. Well aren't you lucky to be a human being, you get a finely polished casket and a date set for all to mourn for your sorry ass!

Well thats just how life works I guess...next time you think about death, don't fear it...be grateful.
