Spontaneous Prose vs. Stream Of Conciousness

We poets basically string these two together, but if you work out the kinks, there's a fine line to be aware of.
What we poets would usually refer to as spontaneous prose is writing without thinking about your writing, going back to edit it.. etc. Also known as stream of conciousness? Well, not quite. Jack Kerouac, the inventor of "spontaneous prose" has an entire format for writing spontaneous prose---(http://www.writing.upenn.edu/~afilreis/88/kerouac-spontaneous.html)
... so then how can it be spontaneous?

Stream of conciousness, on the other hand, is defined as: Ostensibly unedited, spontaneous live or recorded performances, as in film, music, and dramatic and comic monologues, intended to recreate the raw experience of the person portrayed or the performer.

In a nutshell-- totally without thought. Just a bangout job.

So after comparing the two... if you were writing in a stream of conciousness style would you have to think about a format at all?
Maybe spontaneous prose has just lost it's meaning over the years.
I have often called my writing without thought spontaneous prose. And perhaps it's just the connotation! Or just the two words making up the entire idea!

"Spontaneous" comes from the latin "sponte", of one's free will/voluntarily.
And the Merriam Webster Definition: proceeding from natural feeling/arising from momentary impulse

"Prose" from latin "prosa", straightforward
Definition: a literary medium distinguished from poetry by it's greater irregularity and variety of rhythm.

That brings out the known connotation. Yet there is still an entire form to it when the two words are put together? I guess the form is what makes it in the writing style category, because writing in stream of conciousness is not an option in writing variety, just a random choice.

So after this carefully depicted evidence, hahaha... what do YOU think?
