Most days I really enjoy signing into Allpoetry.
I like to see what other poets think of the poems I have posted, and I enjoy talking to the few close friends that I do have here.
But, I am curious to know if there are any poets out there that still write poetry, just for the sake of writing to express themselves, when the spirit moves them, or if everyone has gone contest crazy.
As most of my friends know, I do not enter that many contests.
Why? A few reasons:
1. I write when I am moved to write.
2. I never really thought it necessary to try and collect a shelf full of trophies to make myself feel worthy.
3. I don’t usually feel that great, so I don’t write that much anymore.
I recently did enter a couple different contests, and it saddened me to see that there are certain poets that would try to intimidate, bully, or whatever you would like to call it, just for their own personal satisfaction, and/or to insure
that they will be chosen as the Big Winners.
I am a peaceful person, but this past week, I was pushed to my limit of understanding, and pity for the people that do have to act so immature and childish.
Having a sense of humor, I imagined myself hearing the theme song from
“The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”in the distance.........walking 40 paces, borrowing the guns from Lara Croft..........and...well you know the rest.
I just had to voice my opinion on this matter.

Mine was left in a contest somewhere - it tried to Sumo wrestle my words
