Project 'J'

Project 'J' is merely a working title, for a new story I've been working on and tossing around for a couple of years. I have only a few chapters written so far.

Project 'J'

A working title I have going as a side project. I have about 5-7 chapters so far.

It is a draft piece I've been hanging on to and not really sharing much, with the exception of one other person, for the last couple of years.

It is inspired by, but not based upon the PC Game Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout 3.  A futuristic science fiction story, that is post-apocalyptic in time table. It has other elements that have inspired even outside of the workings of a PC game.

Movies like Mad Max, Tank Girl and Aeon Flux have contributed to the working pool of ideas and inspirations. Doom, Independence Day, and several other movies, film, books and comic novels, have also been taken into consideration.

It is still a work in progress, but it's a start. Even the names of some of the characters within Project'J' are merely 'working names' that may change over time. Solidly, it is a story in the making, however, and it does center around one character.

A female character.

Other characters have been added into the story, and so far, they are as interesting as the titular character. It is written, not just from the perspective of "where is humanity going?" but the main/titular character narrates it from the perspective of "OMG! What have I done?" She is a character that feels responsible for the damage done to humanity(but not solely, and she knows it.)She's an anti-heroine, and certainly had a hand in the fate of humanity in the future. Unlike the perspective of the heroes and heroines I've seen dominate the science fiction realm. This story deals in the many shades and calico-patterned uncertainty we all face, and tackles the questions of what can and cannot be done to correct the inevitable.

I don't know yet if it would be wise or advise-able to post any of my working ideas yet on AP, but I am considering keeping people updated on the progress of Project 'J' over the course of time.

  • Great stuff. I am limited by not knowing the games you mentioned but it sounds really intriguing.

    Hang in.

Not really... Just if you've read anything or seen anything futuristic, post-apocalyptic, or sci-fi based, then you should be good to go. Even if you can only imagine losing everything, and having only yourself to rely on, then one can put together something that would suit. The story is about remembering how to be a human being after traumatic circumstances. The central character strives toward remembering this.

      Good luck.
