Hope He Knows

This is just a little short story I wrote. I've been into writing stories like this lately. I thought I'd share my latest one, just written today! =D

A lonely tear rolls down her cheek as she watches from a darkened window as he drives away. It doesn’t get easier, having to part ways so many times. Her heart always gets heavy with the scent of regret when she has to return. She always wonders if he knows. Did she convey it enough during her brief visit? Does he truly know how much he means to her? He’s everything. She can’t live without him. If he wasn’t in her life, she doesn’t know what she’d do. Almost losing him once made her realize the true depth he has ventured into her soul. He’s become imbedded in her. He’s now a part of her, the other half, her better half. She loves him so much, more than anything in the entire world. She couldn’t imagine anyone loving him as much as she does, or loving anyone as much as she loves him. She’s so completely in love that she doesn’t quite understand. He makes her feel safe. He makes her feel free. He gives her a place to belong. He can always make her smile. He can always make her laugh. He gives her a reason to wake up each morning, a reason to live. She lives for him. She breathes for him. And in a heartbeat, she would die for him. She tells him she loves him but does he really know?

She’s leaving tomorrow. She must return to her “other home.” She has a heavy heart because she doesn’t know if he knows. Leaving his side kills her. Having to leave the place where she feels most comfortable, the place where she always belongs, to return to the place that has caused much heartache and pain isn’t easy. She hates it. She doesn’t know what’s going to happen between now and the next time they see each other. She hopes he knows. There’s so many things that she didn’t say, so many things she wanted to say, so many things she should’ve said. But it’s so hard to find the words sometimes. She can’t explain it. The words always escape her. She wants to express her love to him, but she just can’t find the words. Maybe the right words haven’t been invented yet. How do you tell someone that they will always have your heart? How do you tell someone that your soul is forever attached to theirs? How do you tell someone that you feel at home nowhere but with them, in their arms? How do you tell someone that no one is good enough anymore, but them? How do you tell someone that you only want to kiss their lips, hold their hands? How do you tell someone that looking into their eyes makes you so happy? How do you tell someone that closing your eyes always brings you home to them, even if just for a moment? How do you tell someone that you want to spend your life with them, forever with them? How do you tell someone that even forever’s not long enough? He needs to know these things. But when he’s around, she can’t find the right words. She feels like she’s not getting her point across. He makes her stutter and trip over words. He makes her feel so incredible. And he still gives her butterflies. He’s the one she wants to be with for the rest of her life. She tries to tell him that and make him see. If it’s not in her words, maybe it’s in her kiss. Maybe it’s in her hugs. Maybe it’s in her eyes. Maybe…

She just hopes he knows.
