Chronic pain and health problems......I have been suffering from chronic pain going on seven or eight years now. No one seems able to figure it out and I have been on the internet and sometimes that is SO not a good thing. I have cysts all over both kidney's ( no relation to the chronic pain ) but I do have pain in my right side up by my lower ribcage. One Doctor says ( with out a trace of doubt ) that I have poly-cystic kidney disease which is an inherited disease and while I have an Aunt and cousins with the disease my Mother does not have it so another doctor tells me it's impossible ( or rare ) that I have it. My family doctor sent me for an ultra-sound of my kidney's....the interpretation being that poly-cystic kidney disease can not be ruled out at present! I feel as if I am spinning on some invisible merry go round with no hope of it ever stopping. I don't much care for myself having it.....it is what it is but I would like to know for my children's sake. It is an inherited disease and if I have it chances are good that one or more of them will have it. How do I get the doctors on the same page and what tests do I demand be done to get a definitive answer? I'm so confused! To compound my situation I know someone personally who has kidney cancer and she is valiantly fighting the good fight BUT she was diagnosed after being misdiagnosed and her's started with a pain in her side! I do have a mass on my adrenal gland but the doctors say not to worry about it! <<<< >>>>> HELP!

I am having this personal crisis and I am just looking for some insight from people other than myself.....I can so very easily have myself in a state of panic with little or no help so please bear with me on this!
