**************************This Column Is Being Revised*******************************************

I believe that a person does not become a living soul until after they are born. While it is true that a fetus will react to stimuli and has a beating heart, it is not an intelligent being.
I will grant that we can use a test tube and incubation to bring an embryo to life, we have that technology. If we did that, would it be Godly? Perhaps, using extreme means to save a life is just as wrong as aborting one. We decide who should live and die, and so does God. Possibly God through us. Pro-lifers are usually pro death penalty. Pro choice, usually anti-death penalty. Ironic, isn't it. In addition, the world would be overrun with humans if we saved every human life we could. In some places it is now, because birth is not controled. Why not adopt the children who are already orphaned?
The sanctity of a woman's body should be her own and life beared within her a privilege of a fetus and not a right. I agree that if a woman does not abort in the early stages of pregnancy, she should follow through with it, but I disagree that it is a human being before it is born. It is only a potential human being, just like sperm and and egg that have yet to unite, but at some point may. I think, unless for medical reasons, a woman should have the opportunity to decide at least through the first tri-mester.
Now, everyone can line up and shoot me. I love God, but I'm a Truist. I say what I believe to be true. I believe that God works through us all.

you have very good views, not annoyingly contradictory or poor mannered in the form of hating anyone who has an abortion , my own beliefs are that a woman should have a choice on having an abortion or not, and I believe too that a fetus is not a living human being, and is only a potential human being. to be honest, if we saved every fetus and gave birth to everyone one, I believe the world would be over-run with too many human beings. now I for one am all for adopting, mainly children that were and have been abused simply because i was abused and never had the option to have a better life so it would bring me more then joy, to give someone else a better chance at happiness. *smile*

Thank You
Thanks for reading and commenting. I have yet to revise this column. I hope to soon. I may get to it today.
While by law abortion is not murder, it is killing a potential human being. It should be regarded very seriously.
I find the birth process a fascinating and miraculous process. It amazes me what a woman must go through to have a child. It would be wonderful if every child were regarded as a gift from God. Unfortunately, we often fail to regard each other as children of God. Life is sometimes seen as unimportant. War is an example of this.
Thanks again for reading

You make a good point, but I still believe that a fetus is a living thing before it's born. It's very easy to get technical on the subject. I'm very surprised though that the stem-cell research proposal passed in our state after the election. I didn't think it would be that widely accepted . . .

I don't claim that the fetus or even the sperm and egg are not living. I just don't believe that a fetus has intelligence and understanding prior to birth. I believe these are acquired. There is a 'morning after pill' now that can be taken if a woman feels she is in jeopardy of having an unwanted pregnancy:

Thanks for not shooting me

I don't shoot people, don't worry. That article on Wiki was interesting. I've heard of it once or twice, but they never covered that in my health class this now-ended trimester! Lol.

very profound point you have here. what you say is true. its should not be choice but a right to choose. as to life and death nature finds it ways to keep an equilibrium.. as much we try to save life's more diseases come to being more hazardous components we let out and more conflicts are waged..
nice to read from you my friend
thanks for sharing your view with us -

Thanks Abdulla
How are you?
I appreciate your well considered comment. Humanity has always struggled to overcome nature. In many ways were have. What seems to be the greater struggle is overcoming our own inequities.

This coming from a man, that's rich.

Rich?
Not me. I have to struggle to get by. I think most people do. I don't say necessarily that abortion is a good thing, but I do believe that it is a necessary alternative and that it should be a woman's choice. Those who are pro-life are making their choice. That is fine. So, too, it should be all right for women to choose to abort, within reason. Ours is a nation of freedom. I believe freedom should reign in this matter as well.

I agree with you, completely.
This is always a touchy subject, but when it comes down to it only that person can make the decision whether it is right or wrong. -

Thanks
Thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad you agree. There is now a 'morning after pill' that can be prescibed by a doctor.

This allows a woman to take immediate action to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.
