I think if the world were a little more accepting of people in general, maybe things would get a little better for us all. What do you think?

Days That Will Live In Infamy


What have we all come to?
Have we all forgotten love?
I remember the terror I felt
Just seeing it on TV

I'm thinking of the time
One of my cousins got caught
In the Virginia Tech shooting
I thought I had lost him forever

I remeber sitting on the couch and thinking
"What if that had been me?"
Trapped in a building
Like a hunted animal

Feeling so alone
Wondering why someone would go after me
When he never even knew me
Feeling hot tears of fear and rage

When I had heard my cousin's voice on the other end
Of the phone a few days later
I felt relief fill me
And tears of happiness well up

I could not seem to get it
Why someone would murder people
Just for the hell of it
No matter how long I lingered on the thought

There was Columbine
There was Virginia Tech
Then there is this
The NIU Massacre

I can never forget these days
That will forever live in infamy
Its like Roosevelt said
Only I'm sure he never expected

He never expected
Americans starting wars
With Americans
After all we've been through

But then, there isn't as much
Love
Like there used to be
Can I change that?
