Tips...Yes we need them

This column is basically for any one who has tips to better writing...better ways to get out how you feel, and express that through poetry.
Or if you have some old high school/college tricks that you just want to share.
Anything and everything you have to offer will be used, so please invite yourself to leave anything you can think of.

I can't believe that I need tips...Just kidding I actually do need tips and so does the world. Now I do mean about Writing Poetry, but we could also say tips about life.
I mean what person doesn't need to know another tip to succeed in life with...right?
Anyway back to the topic, I need tips on how to write poetry...OK, I know I know Just write how you feel...well that doesn't work.
I am looking for better word usage, or different forms of writing.
Yes, I have been on the Internet looking for tips before, but I figure why not just go straight to the source of poetry but a poetry website where my answers can be described to me in a way that i can understand and not have to interpret what a book said...
