Cassidy | Helen | Chelsea

Hey everyone, welcome to round four. This round will consist of three assignments. On top of that, I’ve put you in groups.

Red Team
Chase | Lizzy | Heather | Caroline

Yellow Team
Christina | Dani | Ryan | Diana

Blue Team
Jen | Chandni | Lauren | Amy

Assignment One:
>Each player on a team is to create 2 haikus - they do not have to be nature related. [syllable pattern: 5-7-5]
>Each haiku is worth 10 points [then multiplied by 20 to get ?/200 point total]. I will be judging it basically on my personal opinion, like I did for last round. The team with the highest average score in the haiku challenge will win immunity from this & next round’s elimination.

~

Assignment Two:
>Each player is to write a poem inspired by a picture. No word or line limit. Go to www.photobucket.com - and type in your assigned letter in the search bar & find a picture you find inspiring. Post the link to it in your notes. DO NOT post it on your poem.
>Each poem is worth 200 points. I will be using the rubric [the original one I used before the rhyme challenge].

[letter assignments]
Red team: Chase & A, Lizzy & B, Heather & C, Caroline & D
Yellow team: Christina & E, Dani & F, Ryan & G, Diana & H
Blue Team: Jen & I, Chandni & K, Lauren & L

~

Assignment Three:
>Each player is to write a prose. There is no limit, but try to keep it less than 300 words. Each prose will be worth 200 points; except I will be grading it out of 10 points based on personal opinion. Then I will multiply your score by 20 to get the grand total for assignment three.

The team with the lowest total with all three assignments combined will be nominated for elimination. ONE will be eliminated.

The purpose of the group/team challenge is for you to bond with your competitors, who are also hopefully your friends. I want each of you constructively critique each other. All of you should do this anyway, because you do want to win, right? Make sure each poem is as good as it can be. This will be a significant learning experience for many of you & also for many of you this will be a fulfilling experience, to be able to help out another poet.

DEADLINES:

Assignment One: Saturday, June 28th [5PM EST.]
Assignment Two: Saturday, June 28th [10PM EST.]
Assignment Three: Sunday, June 29th [10PM EST.]

I hate to say it, but I almost definitely will be late with assignment three and I am so, so sorry. I absolutely hate being late, but I have to because my mother is pretty much the most difficult human being on this planet. I could get shot just if she discovers me here now!!!

    Will turn it in ASAP.

May be a little late for number two, I am really sorry for that. My mother has decided on the worst time to decide and put some time limits on when her children can use the computer...apparently I'm sort of groundedish? I don't get it hahaha but I'm working on it, I swear!!!

    Question:

For the photobucket assignment, does the image have to be an actual picture or can it be an icon of sorts?

but. butbut. haiku -aren't- 5-7-5. that's to do with japanese characters, and doesn't translate directly to western syllables. if you read some translations of basho's work, for example - that's never 5-7-5. the main thing is that it has to be less than 17 total, with a 'swing' point at the end of either the first or second line. and no(/few) adjectives. ('m sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine)

      okay. i dont know

but just make sure it is a 5-7-5 syllable poem.

hmm. so, will you be looking at the use of a pivot-point, lack of descriptives, or so on? just wondering 'bout the criteria ^.^

    Hmm..
I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, or if it has already been answered buttt..

If the Blue Team only have 3 contestants and the Red and Yellow teams have 4.. and you're adding up all the scores to see which team is up for eliminations... isn't blue team bound to lose? =/

i do average scores; & then add up all of the average scores [3 for each team cuz there are 3 assignments].

idk if i explained that clear, but trust me - it's fine. blue team is not bound to lose. lol

Oh, it was a stupid question by me. You did explain it clear.

I'm going to blame my stupidy on the time I read this assignment. Which was 20 minutes after I woke up =]
