You are all part of this multi-round contest, which hopefully will feel more like a family than competition. I want this to be friendly and fun, not a backstabbing multi-round elimination in which the same poets always prevail and deserving people are thrown out prematurely because of angry judge who hates it when said poet writes repeatedly about a topic the judge disagrees with. *inhale*
Thus, for the next three months, you will compete in a lengthy and challenging, though enjoyable, tournament of words and thoughts. You will write a massive number of poems, be challenged by your greatest crises, and stand as a group. You will build ties that will become familiar, as they will be needed through intense team challenges
all that while the clock ticks closer and closer to a due date which you realize you're not ready for.
A few things must be covered, as they are necessary.
You will be marked on the following rubric: Point dispersal will usually vary based on the task.
Originality
Mechanics
Devices
Flow
Sound of diction
Imagery
Diction potency/choice
Cohesion
Readability
Effective use
of line breaks
Next, as I introduced in the opening contest, there will be disqualifications if someone cannot maintain sufficient development throughout the competition.
If you're 700 points behind the second-to-last place poet, sorry but goodbye.
I won't "disqualify" you if you fail to turn in a poem on time. I know we're all busy. I was supposed to have this running days ago, but yeah.
Anyway, if you repeatedly fail at submitting something you will of course be disqualified.
Furthermore,
Some prompts and tasks will be difficult. Why? It tests your ability and allows you to develop.
Joining me as a judge will be Marty, GreenHrtPaleMoon. He is a brilliant poet and mind, and all in all a great person. He's also a tough judge.
You will have to impress two people this summer.
Can you handle the intensity?
<3Judging will be a tedious process. Marty and I may occasionally ask others to help us, especially if we fall behind - especially since he is finishing up his freshman year of college and will have final exams. Also, rounds will be issued every three days and so poems will be submitted faster than judged. They will be judged as promptly as possible.
Your time is just as important as Marty and I's.
Rules are rudimentary and are usually the same for regular contests.
Please, most importantly
befriend each other and have fun. <3
