Does the war on terror threaten civil liberties in the US?

A look at the other side of the coin.

Every article I read that says, "We need to be lenient and compromise our liberties for the sake of safety from terrorism", I think of the children in Afghanistan that are homeless, parentless and defenseless against our terror in their country. I think of the Iraqi people that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and the terror they feel about us being there. I think of a fourteen year old girl that was gang raped and terrorized by our soldiers and then got to watch her family brutally murdered before they killed her, and then tried to burn her body for fear of evidence. Who is really the terrorist here?

I think about our own homeless people and children, entire families living in the streets, and the terror they feel when they are thrown in jail for eating in public or vagrancy. I think of the innocent person being held in jail for months without any charges ever being brought against them by our government, nor are they treated well or given a phone call or due process. What if it was you and they just happened to THINK you looked like a terrorist? The only terrorists I see in this world right now are George W Bush Jr. and side kick Dick Cheney.

What these people who don't want to defend their liberties do not understand, is the current administration is taking our rights away while keeping them busy with fear about the threat out there, while they smile and laugh all the way to the bank. The threat is this maniac in office. Ben Franklin quotes "When people are willing to give up their liberty and freedoms for the sake of safety, they deserve neither."

Bush and Cheney are making a fortune off duping us into believing their deceit. Bush has not told the truth since he got elected and I, quite frankly, do not believe he is capable of telling the truth. What makes you think he is telling you the truth about your rights and what he really plans to do come Election Day? Do you realize that he has already made it possible by sliding laws through for him to declare martial law?

The war on terrorism is the terrorism we are to the planet.
