“How many roads does a man walk down, before they call him a man? The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind; the answer is blowin’ in the wind” This song, sung by Peter, Paul and Mary, during the ‘60’s is still relevant today!
On Feb.12, 2008, Larry King, 15 years old, was shot twice in the back of the head, while in a computer lab, at a middle school, in Oxnard, California. His killer, another student, Brandon McInerney, intolerant of gay men, will spend the rest of his life behind bars; (rightfully so), for his lack of understanding that we all have the right to be ourselves. This dreadful deed, echoed the murders of Matthew Shephard, and Brandon Teenan, The Nebraskan transsexual whose story was the subject of the movie “Boy’s Don’t Cry.”
These boys are not second class citizens. They were boys who were different in their sexual orientation. They were intelligent, kind, loving boys who had feelings and felt pain, just as you and I. I am outraged at the lack of educating teens to tolerate anyone of a different color, race, or gender. Feeling humanity is saddened by the brutality of all three of these murders. What if one of these boys was your child?
Dr. Alan Sanders, in Evanston, Ill. is conducting an in depth research study on the Molecular Genetic Study of Sexual Orientation, and has already enlisted over 700 gay brothers to participate in this study. He hopes to study as many as 1000 pairs, by collecting DNA samples of each brother. He is close to finding that a gene is responsible for homosexuality. I am not related to these brothers in this interview, but you should watch this link:

To religious zealots, who use the Bible’s word on homosexuality, what will you say when there is positive proof that being gay is hereditary? Gay men and women have every right to live in peace; not having to watch their backs. There are so many prejudices in this country for anyone who is not a Christian. The rise of Neo-Nazi’s in major cities, is higher than it’s ever been.
I can still hear the echo of of Martin Luther King’s famous words, “ Free at last!”
If only this was true----
Educating our young, starts at home and filters down to the schools. It is time NOW, to end all bigotry! Don’t we all have bigger problems to deal with, than killing young men because of their sexual orientation?

Another gay teen has been brutally murdered in California. When will this intolerance for homosexuality stop? What they do behind closed doors is the only thing that separates them from you and I. They love, feel pain, go to school, bleed if they get cut, and are not out to hurt anyone.

I am sorry for the killings
I didn't know anything about the boys being killed but I have to totally agree with you when it comes the fact that the only difference between straight boys and gay boys are the fact that they have to hide who they love.
I don't believe that their is anything wrong with loving someone. Just because I don't feel the same way they do does not mean that they don't feel it.
I would hate for someone to come up to me and say you can't love that person... s/he is wrong for you because.... and they use their own prejudices to try and explain why love is wrong.
Love is never wrong so long as it is between two consenting adults.
And as for the bible... I may get into a lot of trouble here but here goes anyway...
The bible is a wonderful book with a lot of good suggestions on how someone can live their lives. However, it was written by man... not God. And Man brings their own prejudices into the equations... if you know what I mean. These people who wrote the bible meant good I am sure. However, that was thousands of years ago and people are changing... and not always for the good either.
I am not against the bible... however, we can't think that the bible is the only way to life. We have seen other wise with other religions.
I think the best religion is acceptance. Acceptance of people around you. Acceptance of their religion... of their lifestyles... of the person as who and what they are.
If you are truly religious then you will realize that God is the only one who needs to judge another person.
Sorry for being so long. Just wanted to say how sorry I am for the killings and may the families of the ones who died hear my prayers for their children. And know that they are indeed with a forgiving and loving God. He forgives everyone their sins... and accepts them for who they are... because he made each and every one of us.
Hugs,

I agree with EVERYTHING you said in your comment. I have two gay sons, and I never judged, and just love their partners, They live in Chicago, and I visit them almost every 6 weeks. The Bible was written by man as a guide to wholesome living and not to be interpreted literally. That is why I practice no formal religion. I am not a bigot, EXCEPT when it comes to Muslims. I have said my piece about them on my home page!

Hello my Friend ~
First off, thank you for taking your time to focus on *understanding* of gay people, and not just trying to *opinionate your own views*
Personally, as a gay man, I believe with all my heart and soul, I was born gay, therefore, leading me to believe it is indeed genetics ~
On another note, I have deep respect for many of the Preachers who claim Homosexuality is a deadly sin.....well, literally, it can be, if you are shot for your sexaulity, or catch the AIDS virus and don't get treated properly for it ~
However, as much as I apprecaites the beliefs of theses Pastors and Evangelical Preachers, there is also the fact that remains.....they have never walked in our shoes, so bottom line.....They don't understand homosexaulity no more than the next heterosexaul who is trying to ban homosexaulity or the act, or teachings of this sexual right ~
....and until the Bible says, "For all heterosexauls who believe, shall not perish, but have everlasting life".....then I am in belief that *I am the whosoever that believeth shall not perish, but have everlasting life* ~
I, indeed hope they do find the genes, to PROVE to the world at last...we were made in God's image....leading me to believe.....God makes no mistakes.....ever!
Thanks for reading,

It is a terrible thing when someone takes a life for any reason. Not all people 'so called Christian's' are Christian. Our Lord loved all people. He knew we were and are sinners and loved us in spite of it. We are taught to follow His example.... Love the sinner, hate the sin.
Bigotry is alive and well in our nation. This is a sad event. The loss of children, the one who died, as well as the one who will be incarcerated for taking the life of a classmate.
I hope people come to understand that murder is wrong no matter the reason. As Cannonsfire has stated, none of us is perfect, and it is the choice of each individual to live the way they see fit.
Thank you for sharing your article with us.

excellent~
Bigotry has been a problem since the word was invented far as I am concerned....
I have a few gay friends and love them as well as I love my other friends...I just think they are born with a gene or it's heredity or something....
Not everyone agree's or likes gay people
We can't change them....but we can try and make them understand....
Hubby is not tolerant at all....where I am just laid back and easy going and would have supper with a cross dresser
no biggie on my part...sometimes I think gay people are willing to go that extra mile for you.....and would be there for you in any given situation....
I have a friend here at home and her son has just came out and told people he is gay
Does that make me love him any less
No
I am proud he was willing to admit it in this small community we live in....You know how small it is you have been here sis....there are bitter minded people who live here and their views on gays will never change...no mattter what...
I say it's their loss...
I have lost one friend due to AIDS he didn't want me to come see him at the end...
I told him I loved him no matter what..and he just grinned..........
He was very smart...intelligent and very funny...
He just couldn't help what his lifestyle was....
Yet he was still human...and still loved by me.....
As Cannonsfire says none of us are perfect...
And that old verse comes to my mind
Judge not lest ye be judge...and cast not the first stone....
Thank you for this and the link sis
Hugs
Your sis
Susan~~~~

No one should be loved any less because of who they, themselves love. Sadly this world forgets we are all human, and that all of us are individuals made up of flesh and blood, yet different in our own right. Why anyone thinks they have a right to judge these people is beyond me, even Jesus said 'let he who is among you without sin, cast the first stone'. In all honesty none of us are perfect and the world would be a better place if we allowed people to live and let live the way they see fit. Some of my best friends are gay, I have lost two to AIDS and I miss their friendship still. My heart goes out to the parents of this child, another wasted life and useless statistic. Thank you Shana for this and for the link. Love, C

Within Life let love show us the way
From the beginning of time their has been gays within each comunity .You ate with them played with them talked with them yet at the time you didnt have a name for them . So what does a name given change anything . We are all born the same way through parents .We have each have a gene passed down through each of our generations we carry within us. We have no choice of the genes given at birth .So why should we give names to people that may be different in their ways of thinking . Its not a chosen choice you see and the reason their are more today than ever is because just recently they have stepped out and decided to live free as everyone else. We will never agree with everyones beliefes but we could give them the respect they give us. For none of us have the means of changing the genes we are given . -
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I hope you take the time to watch the film.

Hi Shanna
*sighs* everyday I see more and more about this sort of thing in the new world. unfortunately no matter where I look I see the same hatred and bullshit.
Whether it be religion/politics/sports/schools/bullies/fashion...etc
*Sighs* the world is getting worse and worse....

Sadly ...
that's one of the tenets of Islam. Kill all homosexuals. The biggest problem we have in the Western world today is Moslems who try to force their twisted Shariah on others. They are having a very bad time with it in Europe now. That's why that Dutchman made the video on U-Tube about Islam trying to take over the Western world. True, rightwing fundamentalist phoney Christians do preach hatred too, but they don't do as much fomenting of violence as the Moslems do. Recently there was a mass murder of homosexuals in Iran. The President of Iran was correct when he said there were no homosexuals in Iran since they had murdered all of them. -

YOu are right, and even sadder is the fact that Muslims believe that ANYONE who is not of their faith should be killed! I hope you watched the film. Very enlightening! I hadn't read of the murder of homosexuals in Iran, but when I read about another child being brutally murdered here, and so young, I was totally appalled, as I have two gay sons of my own. Thank you for reading and I would love to get this on the Front Page, so more can read!

I agree that education starts in the home with the teaching of our own children to be tolerant of those who are different! We are all God's children and have the right to live our lives to the fullest no matter our orientation. This is indeed a sad state we live in and hatred still abounds. I am glad that I took the time to teach my children better than that! I have never tolerated ignorance nor racial hatred in my home of any kind and that goes for anyone who steps through the door.
I am sorry to say the relgious zealots have made it hard for those of us who are Christians that don't share their fanatasicm or hatred. There are some of us who are Christian that know we are indeed to treat one another as we would have others treat us. If everyone lived by that we would not have these crazies running around killing innocent people who have as much right to be here as anyone else. By the way there is not one ... no not one who is righteous and we all fall short so that being said who has the right to judge another? Not one! Thanks for making this article of awareness. I hope it is widely read!
Blessings,

Your right it all starts in the home People are just to ignorant to realize this. WE have to teach our children manners respect morals and what not. Teach them the do unto others like you would want done unto you, too. Parents are just flat out lazy and don't teach their children nothing anymore.. To busy in their own little worlds.
