The Lukewarm Church and A message to unbelievers

So while my fingers were fighting to find the H key on the keybord, I decided that maybe I should voice my opinion a bit. Well, Here it goes...

I have noticed something over the last couple weeks while reading my Bible (KJV if you are wondering) and I was reading in Revelation 3:14-22 where it talkes about the "Lukewarm" church of the Laodiceans. The passage goes like this,

[14] And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
[15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
[16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
[17] Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
[18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
[19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
[20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
[21] To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
[22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Does that sound at all familiar to anybody? It does to me. I don't think when John wrote this down that he had any clue that Jesus could have been refering not only to the church at that time but also to our time as well. But I'm almost certain he was.

I say that we should become something other than lukewarm. Me, I'm going to be "hot" and preach the Word of God to those who may not know His Word. And to those who read this writing, know that Jesus the Christ is the only way to Eternal Life, for He said "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die..." (John 11:25-26)

I emplore you to take Jesus into your life, if you have not yet, as your Savior, who died for your sins on the Cross. All you have to do is believe and confess with your mouth. Do so as I did once before,

Lord Jesus, I invite You into my life. I believe You died for me and that Your blood pays for my sins and provides me with the gift of eternal life. By faith I recieve that gift, and I acknowledge You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.

After saying this simple but effective prayer and accepting Jesus into your heart, go and find a Bible and read it. The words contained within are the "instructions" for how you should live your life. I would start by reading John or one of the other Gospels first and then moving on to Romans (which I have to admit I have not read all of myself....See, we both have a goal). Where you go from there is where God takes you.

In Christ with Love,

Frank Lee Christian II

it's great to hear your passion Lee in something you believe in. I only wish I could feel as passionately about christianity. I am on outcast from God and it hurts sometimes becasue I have been brought up not to believe in God by mum who is a spiritual believer and the other half of my family who are devout. I dont know which way to turn and Im so lost. i have ignired faith and religion all my life becasue unlike bringing me out from the darkness I would be forced to choose between my kin and my relatives becasue our family has religious factions and it has spit my world apart. i find it hard to believe in religion when it destroys a whole family why cant we place our love and faith in ourselves and those around us who love us in return and thank our creater who ever she or he may be by respecting the animals and plants and other entities that exist. would that be better proof of faith and love rather than praying in a church. i meditate outside in the sunshine. becasue prayer should be free and joyful and private not inside a building with no connection to nature.
its just a thought ive had since i was little.
if i can be convinced then I shall convert i need a guide really.

Oh Brother, I look upon these words and I must say this in the most honest way I can.

I have found myself on all sides in this game, first cold, then hot, to lukewarm... from there, I have no path for me. As I have lived only a short ammount of time, I have only so much experience as is alotted to me in my span of life. That being said, looking upon all that God has done (no one act in particular), I have come to a conclusion (or at least one that makes the most sense to me).

    God is only human.

Surprised? Whether you are or not, my gathering of information over these 19 years has led me here. God has forgiven us of our sins and led us to kill our human brethren. He has been our Savioiur and he has led us to war. In the words of George Carlin, 'This is the kind of shit you'd expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy would've been out on his all-powerful a** a long time ago.'.

By no means do I try to make of your faith. I know that people are different, and on the plus, it has brought you out of the darkness. I respect that. But I don't honestly believe that he is the person he has been built up to, not with all the propoganda floating around and skewing the entity that is God.

On the closing note, I respect your opinion, but I refuse to accept it, not before the 'wool' can be cast away and the true 'God' can be seen.

Love and Peace through all your days,
    Rayn
