There are many types of poetry, for example:
Recalling our
yesterdays can
give
birth to
our many
forms of
expressions.
This poem is a expression used by many poets. As you can see the poems content is stretched but it still makes sense. See how you do.
I saw the purple cat
it sat on my yellow mat
and it was wearing a black felt hat
oh how it was so fat.
This poem rhymes but makes absolutely no sense. However, sometimes it is the poems that we don't understand but are funny that we laugh at. Try this out.
I've been looking for my heart all day
I couldn't find it and that scared me.
But I finally realized where it was
You stole it, so easily, I hardly noticed it was gone.
This is a poem in paragraph skip form. You don't write a story with it running together. You take out the pieces that make sense and chop them up. I think this is one of the easier ones, seeing how it dosn't require any rhyming, and everyone should know how to write.
Life
So fragile
Keep it forever
Never give it away
Never let is be stolen
Only you can control your life
As you can see, this is a pyramid poem. It starts with just one word and you go down, adding two words, then three, and so on. Try this one out and let me see how you do:-)
I hope this was of some use to all you AP poets:-)
Have you ever noticed how many diff. types of poetry there is? And how one person could be awsome at a spacific type and just suck on another? Check out this cloumn and see how many you can relate to :-)
